'Hostages' Season 1, episode 12: 'The Cost of Living' and dying

Desperation sets in at a new level for Brian Sanders (Tate Donovan) on Monday's (Dec. 9) episode of "Hostages."Given that he and his family were taken hostage in their own home; he's been bound, beaten up and shot; had his corrupt business practices; and had his affair at the office and tenuous marriage and relationships with his kids exposed, viewers would expect he had reached these depths already. But no, Brian manages to sink lower in this episode. After directing his daughter Morgan (Quinn Shephard) to steal a friend's cell phone so he can make a call that cannot be traced, he calls Nina Carlisle (Francie Swift), FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle's (Dylan McDermott) wife is in a hospital, dying of leukemia. She has no idea that that her husband has been moonlighting as a kidnapper, holding a family hostage. Or that he is doing so until Brian's wife, Ellen (Toni Collette), operates on the president who is... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/hostages-season-1-episode-12-the-cost-of-living-and-dying.html

'Hostages': Watch Brian drop a dime on Duncan to Nina in 'The Cost of Living'

Since stabbing the man holding his family hostage with a needle full of poison didn't work, and all of his other plans failed, Brian Sanders (Tate Donovan) tries a new tact on Monday's (Dec. 9) all-new episode of "Hostages."He calls Nina (Francie Swift) and tells her what her husband is up to, and oh yeah, by the way, she is the daughter of the president of the United States.Brian has his daughter steal one of her friend's cell phones, so that the call won't be tapped. Then he calls Nina who is in a hospital bed, dying of leukemia. Still, Nina has the presence of mind to question this stranger.Nina's husband is FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott), who is part of a bizarre plan to hold the Sanders family hostage until Ellen Sanders (Toni Collette) does their bidding and kills the president while operating on him.Though other political operatives have reasons for wanting the... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/hostages-watch-brian-drop-a-dime-on-duncan-to-nina-in-the-cost-of-living.html

TV ratings: 'The Blacklist' ends 2013 on up note, 'CMA Country Christmas' rises

Fast National ratings for Monday, Dec. 2, 2013The last episode of 2013 for "The Blacklist" scored for NBC: Pending updates for an NFL pre-emption in New Orleans, the show delivered its best ratings since its premiere. The final numbers will likely come down a bit, but it should still end the fall on an up note."The Voice" also improved a little on its ratings from last week for NBC. ABC's "CMA Country Christmas" special improved a little on its performance from last year, although "A Charlie Brown Christmas" dropped. CBS' comedy block was up across the board in viewers, while "Almost Human" dipped a little for FOX.NBC averaged 12.35 million viewers and a 7.6 rating/12 share in households for the night, pending NFL updates. CBS (6.9 million, 4.4/7) came in third, and... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/tv-ratings-the-blacklist-ends-2013-on-up-note-cma-country-christmas-rises.html

'Hostages' Season 1, Episode 11: 'Off the Record' is on the money

For those who have stuck with "Hostages," Monday's (Dec. 2) episode pays offs. Big time.Giving new meaning to the Stockholm Syndrome, FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle and Dr. Ellen Sanders (Dylan McDermott, Toni Collette) finally share a deep kiss. That's the penultimate scene of this episode. The last scene has the kidnapper kidnapped. Carlisle is hogtied, duct tape slapped over his mouth and tossed in a van. Before we get there, much happens to advance the plot, and five couples are highlighted.Ellen has resigned herself to having the president die on her operating table. Carlisle explains to his co-conspirators, Archer, Kramer and Sandrine (Billy Brown, Rhys Coiro and Sandrine Holt) that they must take out the new team of hit men gunning for the president. He knows it's kill or be killed.Carlisle also explains to Ellen's husband, Brian (Tate Donovan), that he needs Brian's contacts as a real estate developer to get the floor plans on three Manhattan... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/hostages-season-1-episode-11-off-the-record-is-on-the-money.html

'Hostages' episode 10: 'Burden of Truth' reveals more lies

With Monday's episode (Nov. 25), "Hostages" is two-thirds of the way through its run.CBS is committed to finishing the series, and since 15 episodes were planned this is the 10th, we're 66.66 percent of the way there. In an unusual move, no one is killed this week. And a little more is explained. For starters, FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott) and Dr. Ellen Sanders (Toni Collette) have more honest conversations with each other than either does with anyone else. She wants to know why no one knows that his terminally ill wife, Nina, is the president's daughter.Carlisle tells her, and it's shown in flashback how President Kincaid (James Naughton) was a young congressman in 1978. A young journalist went to his hotel room to interview him. He raped her, then tried to buy her off. When she could not be bought, Burton Delaney (Larry Pine) helped her leave the country. The journalist later discovered she was... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/hostages-episode-10-burden-of-truth-reveals-more-lies.html

'Hostages' episode 9: 'Loose Ends' need tying up

The lipstick returns in Monday 's (Nov. 18) episode of "Hostages."Given that lipsticks have fun names, let's call this one Kiss of Death, since that is its purpose. This is the lipstick that cleverly camouflages the poison intended to kill the president during his rescheduled operation. FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott) returns it to Dr. Ellen Sanders (Toni Collette) and orders her to place it in locker 715 on the fourth floor before the hospital goes into lockdown, preparing for the president's operation. Two important characters are killed off in this episode: The president's Chief of Staff Quentin Creasy (Jeremy Bobb) and Secret Service Agent Stan Hoffman (Paul Calderon). They were on opposite sides of the plot, with the chief of staff being in on the conspiracy and Hoffman digging to find out why there was a mistake with the first scheduled operation on the president and why the operating room nurse supposedly committed suicide.Hoffman... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/hostages-episode-9-loose-ends-need-tying-up.html

'Hostages' episode 8: 'The Good Reason' reveals the cabal

By the end of the eighth episode of "Hostages" Monday (Nov. 11), just what constitutes a "good reason" is anybody's guess. Are there good reasons why a colonel, the president's chief of staff and the scorned sister of the first lady want the president dead? It's unlikely they share the same motivations, outside of a mad power grab.Col. Thomas Blair (Brian White) believes that the government should continue to spy on citizens. Since he is in charge of Operation Total Information, he wants it to continue. President Kincaid (James Naughton) wants to stop the spying."When the American people find out the extent to which this government has been secretly spying on its own citizens -- surveillance devices in cars, in computers -- they are going to demand my head on a stake," the president says to the colonel and Quentin Creasy (Jeremy Bobb), his chief of staff, who are involved in the assassination plot.Vanessa (Joanne Kelly),... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/hostages-episode-8-the-good-reason-reveals-the-cabal.html
