TV ratings: 'The Blacklist' ends 2013 on up note, 'CMA Country Christmas' rises

Fast National ratings for Monday, Dec. 2, 2013The last episode of 2013 for "The Blacklist" scored for NBC: Pending updates for an NFL pre-emption in New Orleans, the show delivered its best ratings since its premiere. The final numbers will likely come down a bit, but it should still end the fall on an up note."The Voice" also improved a little on its ratings from last week for NBC. ABC's "CMA Country Christmas" special improved a little on its performance from last year, although "A Charlie Brown Christmas" dropped. CBS' comedy block was up across the board in viewers, while "Almost Human" dipped a little for FOX.NBC averaged 12.35 million viewers and a 7.6 rating/12 share in households for the night, pending NFL updates. It should still end up on top for the night, however, as the Peacock finished well ahead of second-place ABC (7.3 million, 4.6/7). CBS (6.9 million, 4.4/7) came in third, and... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/tv-ratings-the-blacklist-ends-2013-on-up-note-cma-country-christmas-rises.html

'How I Met Your Mother': Canada, Alan Thicke and a mystery couple at 'The Rehearsal Dinner'

"How I Met Your Mother" continued its slow march to the Robin-Barney wedding with "The Rehearsal Dinner." This week's few minutes of time featured paintball, an ice rink full of Canadians -- including Alan Thicke -- and some bad Italian. But there's a chance that all of this was upstaged by one anonymous, rapidly aging couple seen only in the background.Paintball vs. an ode to CanadaWhen most couples plan a rehearsal dinner, they go with an intimate, beautiful meal in which close family and members of the wedding party can anticipate the big event. That's not the route that Barney and Robin took.Instead, Barney insists stubbornly that a paintball dinner would be best, because of course he wants a paintball dinner. Robin, meanwhile, wants some sort of Canadian affair. What that means remains something of a mystery, since all of the Canada talk quickly devolves into endless jokes about mittens and Tim Hortons.Still, it seems... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/how-i-met-your-mother-canada-alan-thicke-and-a-mystery-couple-at-the-rehearsal-dinner.html

'How I Met Your Mother' - 'Bedtime Stories': It's tricky to rock a rhyme

The all-rhyming episode that "How I Met Your Mother" tried Monday (Nov. 25) had a very high potential for disaster. So would a review of the episode that attempted pull off the same trick. So you're not getting the latter -- and the good news is, "Bedtime Stories" was actually a pretty nice episode of late-period "HIMYM." The conceit -- Marshall has to rhyme to get Marvin to sleep -- worked perfectly well to set up a trio of flashback stories centered on Ted, Robin and Barney. The best of the bunch, by a good distance, was Robin's. Ted's and Barney's were mostly variations on long-running character traits, although seeing the various bros who made up the Players' Roundtable in Barney's story was amusing. Robin's tale, though, imparted some new information: Already down from a breakup, she runs into her ex Simon (James Van Der Beek), who's now engaged, and hits bottom, stealing his wedding cake.Somehow, that... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/11/how-i-met-your-mother---bedtime-stories-its-tricky-to-rock-a-rhyme.html
