'Law & Order: SVU' Viewers Lament Christopher Meloni's Absence in Season Premiere

Law & Order: SVU  fans are already missing  Christopher Meloni. In May, it was revealed that the actor  would not be returning  for the show's 13th season, which premiered Wednesday night. Meloni had played Detective Elliot Stabler on the NBC procedural since the show's inception in 1999, co-starring opposite  Mariska Hargita y as Detective Olivia Benson. But he parted ways with the show after contract negotiations broke down. Read More... http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/thr/television/~3/Zh7XGSbhbTY/law-order-svu-viewers-lament-238844

Benson Gets News That Elliot Has Retired on 'Law & Order: SVU' (VIDEO)

The tides of change are sweeping in on the thirteenth season premiere of 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' (Wed., 10PM ET on NBC). After twelve seasons on the top-rated show, Christopher Meloni won't be a part of the show after contract negotiations failed, while Mariska Hargitay is reducing her workload. In the season premiere, we learned that Det. Elliot put in his retirement papers. And since Meloni wasn't available to be in the show, Det. Benson had to learn this second-hand, and while she appeared to take it pretty well, she had a breakdown in private. Now it's going to be the show's task to reinvigorate the show with a different energy and some new faces without the face of one of its biggest stars -- Now why does that sound familiar? What did you think of the new 'SVU'? http://www.aoltv.com/2011/09/22/benson-gets-news-elliot-retired-law-and-order-svu-video/

'Law & Order: SVU' premiere: New hires and old wounds

The focus leading up to the season premiere of "Law & Order: SVU" has been on the people coming into the show. But to a large degree within Wednesday's (Sept. 21), the focus was on the guy who's gone. The show picks up more or less in real time after the end of last season. Stabler is nowhere to be found, still on leave after the squad-room shooting in "Smoked." There's a new hire, Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish), and a very high-profile case clearly modeled on that of former IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn (they even name-check him). The case plays out more or less the way the real one has, but that's not what really drew our interest. The real-life reason for Stabler's departure is that Chris Meloni and the show couldn't agree on a contract extension. Within the show, though, the writers seem to be handling it about as deftly as you can when... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/09/law-order-svu-premiere-new-hires-and-old-wounds.html

'Law & Order: SVU' Boss Talks Stabler's Departure, Benson's Reaction & New Blood

Warren Leight is the new showrunner on 'Law & Order: SVU.' He wrote this blog post for us, in advance of tonight's Season 13 premiere, to help prepare fans for what's to come: the loss of Stabler, the introduction of two new SVU recruits and the change in Benson's attitude from confident to somewhat unsure. After a 12-year run, Chris Meloni has chosen to leave the 'SVU' stages, which means Det. Elliot Stabler will be leaving the squad room. All of his co-workers will feel the loss, but none more than Olivia Benson, his partner for that whole time. The SVU team will be adjusting to the end of that partnership for the first several episodes of the season. http://www.aoltv.com/2011/09/21/law-and-order-svu-warren-leight-blog-video/

'Law & Order: SVU': Lots of clues in Season 13 sneak peek

Chris Meloni isn't mentioned by name in this preview of "Law & Order: SVU's" new season, but he still looms large.Meloni's Elliot Stabler has apparently gone AWOL at the start of the season, and his absence is weighing on his long-time partner, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Into this environment step new SVU detectives Nick Amaro (Danny Pino) and Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish), and from the looks of things Amaro in particular has a bit of a rough go at first. You'll also see ADAs Alexandra Cabot (Stephanie March) and Casey Novak (Diane Neal) back in action, as well as former original recipe "Law & Order" star Linus Roache reprising his role as Michael Cutter, who's now a bureau chief in the district attorney's office."Change is good," Hargitay says at one point in the video. We'll see whether that holds true when "SVU" premieres at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday, Sept. 21.What do you think of the sneak... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/09/law-order-svu-lots-of-clues-in-season-13-sneak-peek.html
