'Legit' goes 'Racist': Dan Bakkedahl teases Season 2, episode 3

In "Legit" Season 2, episode 2, main character Jim Jefferies seemed to have found his perfect woman. There's just one catch: She's racist. That cliffhanger ending will get followed up immediately in episode 3, "Racist." In it, Jim has to struggle with his attraction to Sara (Betsy Beutler) and her racist tendencies. According to star Dan Bakkedahl, there was an initial struggle with the network just to use the N-word on FXX. "There were things like, 'Well, 'The Shield' used it 625 times in 10 seasons! And 'Louie' used it five times in that one episode with the aunt that died out in the woods! Why can't we use it one time, and our context is absolutely pure?'" he recalls toZap2it during a recent Google Hangout. Bakkedahl continues, "We are showing a person and saying this person has no flaws, and then out of her mouth comes this word, and Jim's reaction tells you... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/03/legit-goes-racist-dan-bakkedahl-teases-season-2-episode-3.html

'Legit' Season 2 review: Jim Jefferies' sharp comedy finds its momentum

"Legit" might not be FXX's most popular comedy, but it should be one of them. After a critically acclaimed first season, the Jim Jefferies-starring series is only sharper, funnier and more brutally heartwarming in Season 2. Though Wednesday's (Feb. 26) premiere episode isn't as jarring or as uplifting as Season 1's, "Legit" finds its groove much easier in Season 2 than it did last year. The characters of Jim, Billy (DJ Qualls) and Steve (Dan Bakkedahl) feel lived in here, and the episodes feel like one part of a larger story instead of just funny jokes conceived as episodes, which is more akin to "Louie." In fact, it's hard to compare "Legit" to much of anything on television right now, and that's part of what is so exciting about it. After viewing the first four episodes, it's clear that Jefferies and co-creator Peter O'Fallon aren't afraid to push the bounds of what is politically correct... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/legit-season-2-review-jim-jefferies-sharp-comedy-finds-its-momentum.html

Jim Jefferies: FXX's 'Legit' Season 2 is 'substantially better than Season 1'

Jim Jefferies is very excited about "Legit" Season 2. The FXX comedy opted to move away from his standup material in its second season, and he thinks that is for the best. "I think it's substantially better than Season 1," he says during a conference call with reporters promoting the Season 2 premiere. After defining the characters of Jim, Billy (DJ Qualls) and Steve (Dan Bakkedahl) in the first season, "Legit" is free to get into the nitty gritty of their personalities in Season 2. That's not always for the best of the characters, though, as both Jim and Steve find themselves on a decline this season. "The character of Steve is very well-defined now," Jefferies says. "This season he becomes a full blown alcoholic, and it progressively gets worse throughout the season." Don't expect things to get much better for Steve, either. Jefferies likes the fact that Steve's struggles with alcohol don't feel corny... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/jim-jefferies-fxxs-legit-season-2-is-substantially-better-than-season-1.html

'Legit's' Jim Jefferies wants to be a 'RuPaul's Drag Race' guest judge

Jim Jefferies has more television aspirations than just "Legit." The Australian comedian really wants to make a guest appearance on another popular TV series: "RuPaul's Drag Race." It turns out that Jefferies' girlfriend is a big fan of the show, and it gets viewed often in their household. Because of that, Jefferies says he's now an expert on what makes a good or bad drag queen. During a conference call promoting the Season 2 premiere of "Legit," Jefferies expressed a desire to get to act as a guest judge on "RuPaul's Drag Race." "I'd do it properly and I wouldn't be rude or nothing," he promises. "It would make my girlfriend very happy." Beyond his desire to join "RuPaul's Drag Race," Jefferies is also a fan of some of the most esteemed dramas on television. He admits that he's been very much enjoying "True Detective" and "The Americans," as well as the recently wrapped "Breaking... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/legits-jim-jefferies-wants-to-be-a-rupauls-drag-race-guest-judge.html

'Legit' Season 2 teases: Life is going downhill for Jim and Steve

"Legit" didn't leave main characters Jim (Jim Jefferies) and Steve (Dan Bakkedahl) in the best places at the end of Season 1, and life doesn't get much better for them in Season 2. Still, according to the cast, watching their downward spirals is going to be so much fun for viewers. Zap2it visited the Venice, Calif., set of "Legit" in November when Jefferies, DJ Qualls, Bakkedahl and creator Peter O'Fallon were shooting one of the final episodes of Season 2. As they later teased at their 2014 TCA Winter Press Tour panel, this season will deal with Jim suffering from sex addiction and Dan being an alcoholic. It's not going to be a pretty sight. "The career's going downhill this season," Jefferies tells Zap2it and select other outlets on the set visit. "I might be a bit more famous next season if we get a third season. All of our lives are in a downward... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/legit-season-2-teases-life-is-going-downhill-for-jim-and-steve.html
