In the series finale of the freshman drama 'Lights Out' (Tue., 10PM ET on FX), fans got what they'd been waiting for: a showdown between Patrick "Lights" Leary and Richard "Death Row" Reynolds. Only a knockout would grant a win, and it's a gruesome fight, with more than money on the line. The title goes to Lights, named "heavyweight champion of the world!" to the screams and cheers of the crowd. He kisses wife Theresa in the ring, and holds the belt high for all to see. Theresa later discovers her now quiet, slightly confused husband in the corridor. "Everyone's waiting," she tells him. http://www.tvsquad.com/2011/04/06/lights-out-finale-lights-cant-remember-who-won-fight/

FX has KO'ed its freshman boxing drama 'Lights Out,' Entertainment Weekly reports. The series debuted in January to 1.5 million viewers, but numbers declined steadily. The March 22 episode was seen by just under 700,000 viewers. Holt McCallany, Pablo Schreiber and Stacy Keach headlined the boxing drama. 'Lights Out' received generally favorable reviews, however our own Maureen Ryan called it "frustratingly uneven," but it had "its moments." http://www.tvsquad.com/2011/03/24/fx-cancels-lights-out/

The FX drama Lights Out follows Patrick “Lights” Leary (Holt McCallany), an aging former heavyweight boxing champion who is struggling to figure out who his life after retirement. Trying to support his wife and three daughters, his financial problems led him to reluctantly accept a job as a brutal debt collector, before eventually following his urge to return to the ring, even though one wrong hit could be deadly. The 57-year-old actor is no stranger to quality TV drama, from his 1982-88 stint as oft-stricken Dr. Jack Morrison on St. Elsewhere to his recent HBO one-two punch of John Adams (he played George Washington) and Treme . He also had a showy role as a gung ho colonel in last year's Oscar-winning best picture The Hurt Locker . But FX's underdog drama allowed Morse to show his most vulnerable side with his heartbreaking turn as Jerry "The Rainmaker" Raines, a punched-out ex-champ who served as a kind of Ghost of Boxing Future for Lights Leary (Holt McCallany) as he grapples with pugilistic dementia on the eve of his comeback title fight. Come Emmy time, both Morse and McCallany deserve to be heavyweight contenders. Did David Morse knock you for a loop on Lights Out ? http://www.tvguide.com/News/Cheers-Jeers-David-1030996.aspx?rss=breakingnews
