A dark psychological crime drama starring Idris Elba as Luther, a man struggling with his own terrible demons, who might be as dangerous as the depraved murderers he hunts.
With Luther dogged by ghosts from his past, a cold case might be the key to unlocking a mystery that's tormenting him. Meanwhile, with the cannibalistic serial killer still at large, Benny's hacking skills have revealed a list of hundreds of potential victims. Realising it's all part of a macabre end game, the detective is forced to put himself and new colleague Emma into the heart of danger to try and stop the killer.
On a leave of absence from the police force, DCI John Luther is laying low in a rundown cottage. However, a visit from colleagues at the Met brings a piece of news that draws him back to London in search of the truth. Meanwhile, a cannibal serial killer has struck the city, and Luther is soon racing against the clock to stop them before they strike again.
This is easily one of the best shows I have ever seen. The description may make it sound like a trope but it's delivery is anything but. You follow conflicted investigator ( Idris Elba )through his life while he interrogates criminals and skirts the gray areas of the legal system in order to truly bring justice to those people who are bad while dealing with his own turmoil. You have heard that pitch before, you've seen that show before but i promise you after you finish episode 1 you will be starving for more. Think about that, normally pilots give you a sense of the potential for a program... this one hooks you right in the belly its ending bridge scene has some of the best natural/unnatural dialog ever written for dramatic TV.
