'Mad Men': Matthew Weiner quit during Season 5 negotiations

We know 17 months is a long time to wait for Season 5 of "Mad Men," which premieres March 25 on AMC, but how about an even longer delay of, say, forever. That's almost what happened when, during this season's negotiations between show creator Matthew Weiner and AMC and Lionsgate, Weiner tells the New York Times he quit the series. "Yes, I quit, at the negotiation. ... And in the end, everything worked out," Weiner says. That sound you heard was a collective sigh of relief from fans of the show who have been holding their breath since October 2010 when Don Draper (Jon Hamm) proposed to his assistant Megan (Jessica Paré)."I always end every season like it's the end of the show," he says. "There was a terror in me that someone else would come in and do it. And I don't know how they would do it, but I would have to live with... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/03/mad-men-matthew-weiner-quit-during-season-5-negotiations.html

Matt Weiner Says He Quit Mad Men During Negotiations With AMC

Matt Weiner and AMC have a notoriously acrimonious relationship, but their protracted negotiations last year got more heated than we thought. "Yes, I quit, at the negotiation. During the negotiation," Weiner tells the New York Times . AMC and Lionsgate executives say they were unaware of that, but all parties are thrilled — just thrilled, thrilled, thrilled  — that everything worked out in the end. On the artistic front, Weiner says the upcoming season, which is mere days away, won't hold the audience's hand in an attempt to reacquaint them with the characters. "Honestly, it's a TV show," he says. "No matter what happens, you'll be able to understand it. It's not Finnegans Wake. There's people, they're in costumes, they're kissing, they're arguing." Ah, but what kissing and arguing it is. http://www.vulture.com/2012/03/matt-weiner-mad-men-amc-quit.html

When Will Don Draper Die?

Matthew Weiner claims he already has an ending in mind for Mad Men and its hard-living ad-genius antihero Don Draper. But given the strict code of silence under which Weiner operates, it's unlikely we'll know what that is before the series finale. Since we couldn't wait, we called Jack Luff, an actuary with the Society of Actuaries, presented him with the vital stats (gleaned from close-watching of the show), and asked him to guess Don's expiration date. http://www.vulture.com/2012/03/when-will-don-draper-die.html

Exclusive Mad Men Sneak Peek: Will Don Cheat Again?

When Mad Men returns next month, it looks like Don Draper ( Jon Hamm ) may be back to some of his old tricks. In this Season 5 teaser trailer exclusive to TVGuide.com, there are — sadly — no new images of Draper, Betty or the rest of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. However, the title cards may tell us a few things about where the new season will pick up. The teaser says "adultery is back" and "jealousy is back," the latter being shown after an image of Don and ex-wife Betty together. Does this mean his romantic bliss with Megan in the Season 4 finale isn't going to last? We'll have to wait until March 25 to find out, but check out the exclusive video below and...  http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mad-Men-Season5-Trailer-1043552.aspx?rss=breakingnews

'Mad Men': Jon Hamm hints at more Don and Joan in Season 5

Jon Hamm says the upcoming season of "Mad Men" will delve into a relationship that a lot of fans are interested in but hasn't received a lot of screen time yet: the one between his Don Draper and Christina Hendricks' Joan Holloway.Don't get too excited: Hamm's comments to Radio Times at a BAFTA event in London don't read as though Don and Joan get romantically involved. "The Don/Joan dynamic is something that we do explore, and don't take this the wrong way, but we do explore as the show goes on," Hamm tells the magazine. "They have worked together for a long time, they know one another very well and I'll leave it at that."Considering Don ended "Mad Men's" last season engaged to Megan (Jessica Pare) and Joan learned she was pregnant, that would seem to preclude a romantic relationship anyway -- or at least make one considerably more difficult. Mad Men Smooch

Mad Men 's notoriously tight-lipped creator, Matthew Weiner , is actually talking about the AMC drama's March 25 two-hour premiere. "It's called 'A Little Kiss,'" Matt reveals. "I like the title to have some kind of synergy with the show so it will pique your interest." Consider us...  http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mad-Men-Smooch-1042121.aspx?rss=breakingnews

'Mad Men': Controversial new teaser poster

"Mad Men" has released a brand new poster for the long-awaited Season 5 and it's getting quite a bit of attention. Gone are the images of the stars in period clothing with slick hairstyles and seductive poses. The poster is super minimalist and it's causing people to sit up and take notice. The poster shows a silhouette of a man falling out of the sky with the premiere date of March 25th in the show's font underneath. The simple poster is taken by some to be a nod to the show's opening credits. Reaction from other viewers imply that this is an unpleasant reminder of 9/11.Take a look at the poster and let us know what you think. Are you okay with the image? Does it bother you? We'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter, as well as what you're anticipating most about Season 5 of "Mad Men." We wonder what Don Draper would... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/01/mad-men-controversial-new-teaser-poster.html
