TV ratings: ABC wins the night, CBS holds on with holiday programming

Fast National ratings for Friday, Nov. 23, 2012Black Friday primetime was an evening of reruns and holiday specials, barring ABC, which aired original episodes of "Last Man Standing" and "Malibu Country." Both shows fared evenly compared to last week's numbers.CBS won the war of holiday programming, bringing in 6.9 million viewers for "Frosty the Snowman" and 5.8 million for "Frosty Returns."The CW's "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" and "The Happy Elf" did not fare as well, garnering 1.7 million viewers during the 8:00 p.m. hour.ABC led the night with 5.8 million viewers and a 3.7 rating/6 share in households. NBC (4.8 million, 3.1/5) came in second, just besting CBS' 4.4 million viewers and 2.3/4. FOX (2.0 million, 1.1/2) finished fourth of the night, and The CW (1.6 million, 0.8/1) trailed.The adults 18-49 winner was ABC, which scored a 1.4 rating in the demographic. TV ratings: 'Malibu Country' drops again, but ABC wins another disappointing Friday night

After a strong series premiere, "Malibu Country" lost viewers for a second consecutive week Friday (Nov. 17). Reba McEntire's new ABC sitcom nabbed a 1.3 in the 18-49 demo (6.7 million total viewers), down 24 percent from the previous week -- and 43 percent from its debut. Its lead-in, Tim Allen's "Last Man Standing," fared little better with a 1.4 demo rating (7.1 million viewers), down 14 percent from the previous week. Still, ABC led the night -- when viewership was down across the board -- with "Shark Tank" the top draw, even though its 1.9 demo (6.7 million) marked a 10 percent drop from the previous week. CBS' reality staple, "Undercover Boss," led the 8 p.m. hour (1.7/6). "CSI: NY" and "We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston," subbing for "Blue Bloods," both netted a 1.4 in the demo. Fast National ratings for Friday, Nov. 9, 2012ABC's comedy duo of "Last Man Standing" and "Malibu Country" came back to Earth some Friday after their strong premieres last week, but both shows still turned in decent numbers.CBS, meanwhile, got a big boost from week two of "Undercover Boss," which gained more than a million viewers and half a point among adults 18-49. "Grimm" and "Shark Tank" both did fairly well too, but The CW's "Nikita" struggled some more, dipping below a million viewers.CBS led Friday's overall race with just under 10 million viewers and a 6.5 rating/11 share in households. ABC (6.3 million, 4.0/7) came in second. NBC took third with 4.1 million viewers and a 2.6/5, beating out FOX (3 million, 1.9/3).
