This Avengers Assemble Episode Was A Crime Against All Marvel Fans

Lots of Marvel fans lamented the loss of the late, great Avengers : Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon, but we understood when Marvel chose to replace it with a new cartoon, Avengers Assemble , that hewed more closely to the cinematic universe. And it sucks . Read More... http://feeds.gawker.com/~r/io9/full/~3/tWxNRgwK_IM/this-avengers-assemble-episode-was-a-crime-against-all-1563425417

MARVEL'S AVENGERS ASSEMBLE: "GUARDIANS AND SPACE KNIGHTS" REVIEW

You may have noticed that I haven't been doing Avengers Assemble reviews for the last few months. Or maybe you haven't, which is pretty much the reason why I stopped in the first place. There seems to be a lot of apathy about this show among older viewers, with the consensus every week that the show may have its merits, but it's not up to the standard set by its predecessor, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. There are only so many ways you can argue that point in a review before it gets old. Read More... http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/04/06/marvels-avengers-assemble-guardians-and-space-knights-review

MARVEL'S AVENGERS ASSEMBLE: "MOLECULE KID" REVIEW

After a pretty  underwhelming debut for Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.  this weekend, I was really hoping Avengers Assemble would pick up the slack. Luckily, it lived up to those expectations, resulting in the second episode that really feels strong enough to stand alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The fact that this was the first Assemble episode to actively reference the EMH time period certainly didn't hurt. MARVEL'S AVENGERS ASSEMBLE: "HYPERION" REVIEW

At this point we've gotten six episodes of Avengers Assemble, and apart from the perpetually absent Black Widow, viewers have gotten a decent idea of how the core roster are being handled on this series. With that in mind, "Hyperion" seemed like the first effort by the Assemble crew to branch out a bit more and start exploring the wider Marvel Universe outside the usual confines of Avengers and traditional villains. Much of that involved the debut of the titular new hero on the block, a god-like protector who evokes Superman in every way except where it counts most. MARVEL'S AVENGERS ASSEMBLE: "SUPER ADAPTOID" REVIEW

At its best, Avengers Assemble has proven itself to be a competent replacement for Earth's Mightiest Heroes, if not exactly a home run of a relaunch. Unfortunately, this week the series wasn't at its best by any stretch of the imagination. "Super Adaptoid" reinforced many of the show's weaker qualities, with a formulaic conflict and overly two-dimensional characters weighing everything down. MARVEL'S AVENGERS ASSEMBLE: "THE SERPENT OF DOOM" REVIEW

I wasn't wild about last week's Avengers Assemble episode and its dull, formulaic "rookie saves the day" formula. The fact that it completely ignored the running storyline of Red Skull's Cabal didn't help either. Luckily, the writers seemed to know just what to do to win me back over with this week's installment. Namely, framing an episode around two of my favorite Marvel elements - Doctor Doom and Asgardian mythology. The result was easily the strongest episode in Assemble's short lifespan so far. MARVEL'S AVENGERS ASSEMBLE: "GHOST OF A CHANCE" REVIEW

Avengers Assemble is back to start a full-fledged run of episodes. The good news is that Disney XD isn't bothering to replay the two episodes that made up May's series premiere. Instead, they're launching right into the third episode. The bad news is that "Ghost of a Chance" didn't leave a very strong impression. It was a significant step down from the premiere in both scope and characterization. READ MORE...

MARVEL'S AVENGERS ASSEMBLE: "THE AVENGERS PROTOCOL PART 2" REVIEW

I reviewed the first half of Marvel's Avengers Assemble premiere a few days ago when that episode appeared on iTunes. Both halves aired on Disney XD today, forming an hour-long pilot that more or less established the tone and direction of this new series. It's still a little soon to be judging whether Assemble is truly a worthy follow-up to Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but it's clear at least that this new show isn't the disaster some Marvel fans were fearing.
