Mercy's James Tupper Roots for Canada's Bay of Fundy as New Natural Wonder

James Tupper's heart belongs to the Bay of Fundy. The Mercy heartthrob is campaigning for the Canadian coastal region in a contest to pick the world's best experiences in nature. "I grew up in Nova Scotia, and my uncle lived close to the Bay of Fundy," says Tupper, the ambassador of the Canadian bay for the contest, which is sponsored by an organization called New7Wonders. "We would walk across the mud flats out to an island, and then you'd climb a cliff and be in the forest. And if the water came in, the basin would fill up with, like, a 30-foot tide. It was phenomenal." The Bay of Fundy is a 170-mile-long ocean bay in the heart of Canada's Maritime provinces between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The area is home to the highest tides in the world, 12 species of whales and biodiversity comparable to the Amazon rain forest. Tupper's beloved bay has some serious competition, including the Amazon River, the Dead Sea, the Grand Canyon, the Matterhorn and Mt. Vesuvius. New7Wonders hopes to receive more than a billion votes for the 28 finalists. New7Wonders is the same organization that grabbed headlines in 2007 when it asked people to choose seven new man-made wonders. As a 10th-generation Nova Scotian, Tupper not only hopes the Bay of Fundy will be named one of the New7Wonders of Nature in 2011, but that it will also remain unspoiled. "It's got this geographical isolation where you have to take a multiple flights. It's kind of hard to get to, but because of that, it's preserved its land where there's not a lot of factories and the fishing villages are still intact," says Tupper. "I think there's a growing environmental consciousnesses in the world now, and, hopefully, this campaign will be a part of it." Source Here

Ratings: Idol Rules, But Modern Family Keeps Growing

For the second week in a row, ABC's Modern Family posted significant gains, despite going head-to-head with ratings powerhouse American Idol. Modern Family drew 10.1 million viewers, an increase of 8 percent from last week, and tied its season high in the adults 18-to-49 demographic. Its lead-in, The Middle (8.2 million), was also up, improving 11 percent to reach a series high. Faltering against Idol, Cougar Town shed more than 3 million of Family's viewers and fell sharply in the 18-to-49 demo. Fox, of course, won the night, anchored by Idol (25 million viewers), which was up 4 percent from last week, when it debuted in the 9/8c Wednesday timeslot. Human Target also settled into its new slot this week, drawing 8.9 million viewers and improving a notch in the demo. CBS placed second overall for the night, as The New Adventures of Old Christine (8.3 million viewers) and Gary Unmarried (7.7 million viewers) jumped up 21 and 26 percent, respectively. Criminal Minds (14.6 million viewers) remained steady against Idol. CSI: NY was the big winner at 10/9c, drawing 13.7 million viewers. The show also improved 6 percent in the demo, despite competing with a Law & Order: SVU repeat (6 million viewers) that performed 18 percent higher than The Jay Leno Show's average. Ugly Betty pulled in 4.7 million viewers and improved 21 percent from last week. Elsewhere, NBC's Mercy (6.5 million viewers) was up 13 percent at 8/7c, and a Life Unexpected repeat at the same time drew 1.6 million viewers for the CW. Source Here

Favorite TV Couples: Kendra's Top 5 Fav Freshman Show Romances - Featured

There are so many wonderful TV romances out there from the "classics" like Rachel and Ross on Friends , the will-they-or-won't-they couples like House 's "Huddy," and Chuck 's Chuck and Sarah, then of course the thrilling happy tales of those like The Office 's Jim and Pam. But while we love all those TV romances, this is our first Valentine's Day with this season's new shows, so let's give our favorite freshman show romances a little love! Here are my top 5 favorite freshman show romances: Glee - Will & Emma Anndd.... Rachel and Puck, Rachel and Finn, Quinn and Puck, Archie and Tina, Finn and Kurt! Okay, so the best part of this show besides the music and the hilarious comedy is definitely all the crazy, impossible, adorable, and ridiculous love triangles, squares, and octagons! But because teenagers will be teenagers and I really can't decide who of them would be cutest together, I'll go with the ultimate meant-to-be Glee couple for this Valentine's Day being Will and Emma. We were all shocked to see them actually get together (or at least kiss post-double break up) in the fall finale, so now it'll be thrilling to see where their adorable flirtation and tension will go from there! As for the others, well, I'm ready for wherever their drama and hormones take us next! Modern Family - Cam & Mitchell While this cast has a family full of hysterical characters and great couples, Cam and Mitchell take the cake for this one. They balance each other perfectly, have amazing chemistry, and show a love and bond like few other TV characters really do these days. Their relationship is topped off just right with their developing parenting skills which just emphasize how perfect they are for each other in many a situation like Mitchell semi-calmly calling On-Star as Cam screaming and racing at the car with a trash can (because they accidentally locked their new baby in there, of course). Their interview banter is also fantastic showing their chemistry and humor as well, making them at the top of my list for causing many a replay moment! Vampire Diaries - Stefan & Elena While the vampire-human romance is somehow not getting old in all its Twilight and True Blood glory, it seems that's the case because each romance, while having their similarities, are all just different enough. Stefan and Elena, for instance, are first of all hot, second of all have a mysterious past kind of with each other/Elena's look-a-like that's completely fascinating. And of course the brotherly love triangle tension doesn't hurt either! Life UneXpected - Cate & Nate While we don't know this show or this pairing very well yet, it's pretty obvious that 70% of this new CW show is based on the romantic tension between these two. And if you didn't already get that from them being reunited years after hooking up in high school by their 16-year-old daughter or their names rhyming, the show writers did a good job of rubbing it in with their "accidental" hook-up in the Pilot. While it's obvious and cheesy, I trust this WB-like newbie to be able to play out the love triangle between the two of them and Cate's fiance well enough to get and keep us all majorly hooked! The only problem here is the impossibility of a good couple hybrid name... Mercy - Veronica & Chris While this show is under the radar and I have to admit it's not one I keep up-to-date on, I somehow find though I don't love the show, I can't stop watching it because I keep getting drawn back in by the Veronica-Chris steamy war romance! I know romance while off at war has been done before, but there's something enticing about getting to see the after-effects of the wartime romance which are usually ignored in movies, or don't happen because someone died. This time, we get to see what happens when they go home from the war, try to go back to real life including other significant others after a crazy hot romance away from home in an intense situation. What are you favorite freshman show romances?
