When the naïve and enthusiastic Conor reports for his first day as a volunteer, Jimmy, the shambolic old rescue hand, takes it upon himself to teach Conor the ways of the hills. Conor’s education begins in the 'Busted Femur' pub where he’s introduced to no-nonsense barmaid Jules and fellow mountain rescuer Bill, who spends every living hour looking after his dogs, resulting in somewhat questionable social skills. And as if that's not enough to contend with, Conor later meets Bernie, the mountain rescue team's head of operations, a woman who's happy to the point of delirium in her work.
