Sucker Free is MTV2's hip-hop video block featuring a countdown of the hottest new videos, video premieres, artist interviews and special guest hosts. The show is hosted by renowned rap mixtape icon DJ Envy, but often times has an artist on as a guest host to talk about his/her upcoming projects in addition to introducing the week's videos. The program shows hip-hop videos from the main American regions including the West Coast, South, and East Coast. While the focus is mostly on established major-label artists, the show does highlight and play videos from up-and-comers and lesser-known rappers as well. Occasionally, episodes of Sucker Free will have specific themes, like celebrating the works of individual producers or counting down videos of artists all from the same city. MTV has a long tradition of promoting hip-hop videos that goes back to Yo! MTV Raps and continues to this day on MTV2's Sucker Free!
