With their clans forming an alliance, Madara and Hashirama's childhood dreams of a village came to fruition, allied with the Land of Fire with ninja from the Sarutobi and Shimura clans joining them. While discussing the future, stating his dismay at Madara's choice of naming their village Konoha while looking at a leaf, Hashirama states his intent to make Madara the village leader with his face craved into the cliff as a symbol of him watching the village. However, having overheard his brother while spiriting him away from Madara, Tobirama argues that they must do things democratically now and that everyone will see Hashirama as the more likely choice for their leader. Their conversation is cut short when Hashirama believes that they were being eavesdropped, finding Madara's leaf on the window. Soon after, Hashirama is named the First Hokage. Later, Madara brought Hashirama to the Naka Shrine, as the first outsider to see the Uchiha stone tablet. With his Sharingan, Madara decrypted that while one interpretation is that two opposing forces can come together to create peace, another states that the cooperation is only a quiet method of conflict. Not understanding Madara's true agenda, Hashirama attempts to persuade him to not leave the village. But the disillusioned Madara explains that he has no place in neither the village nor his own clan as he leaves the village to realize his own dream. In time, inspired by the Hidden Leaf ninjas' prosperity, the ninja of the other countries established their own villages. But one day, intend to destroy his old dream by using Kurama, Madara returns to makes random attacks on Konoha. This leads to Hashirama facing him on the edge of the Land of Fire and the Land of Rice, managing to strip Madara's Susanoo armour off Kurama and bind the Nine-Tails.
