Nashville Fans: Heres When Your Show Will Start on CMTs New Slate

CMT is about to unleash the biggest programming slate in its history, with Nashville leading the way. The country music drama formerly on ABC will make its Season 5 premiere at 9 p.m. Jan. 5, the network revealed Wednesday. Hulu will continue providing Nashville episodes for streaming the day after they air. In March, CMT will premiere Million Dollar Quartet (working title), an eight-episode limited series based on early rock n roll producer Sam Phillips and some of the pioneering artists he recorded, including Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis. The CMT debut of Nashville now has an official premiere date. Contrary to headlines about the former ABC drama returning in December (what network debuts anything in December?), it turns out the basic cable network is rolling out the show’s fifth season on Jan. 5. In the meantime, we’re hearing Rayna Jaymes is likely to take her final curtain call in season 5. Star Connie Britton has only signed on for about 10 episodes of the new season. One source close to the show insists, however, that they still remain hopeful they’ll get her on board for more and that the deal is not yet final.
