Catherine and Jules are in counselling but it’s not going smoothly. As she prepares for the half marathon, he accuses her of being cold and distant. Cory has his own simple relationship advice; if it’s not working, move on. Shay visits and Catherine can see that Jules is still in love with her. She calls him on it and they argue and, finally, break up. Catherine runs her race. Nige persuades Brian to come away for a weekend ‘fishing’ trip. Despite Michelle’s counsel, Emma insists she trusts Brian so Michelle persuades Mac to go along to chaperone. At the country hotel, Nige is delighted to find a Hens Party – it’s drinks all round! Brian seems about to succumb to the charms of one of the party but Mac gets him drunk and carts him off to bed. The next morning Nige tries to get Brian away from Mac’s influence. Mac spits the dummy and accuses Brian of sabotaging the best thing he’s ever had. At the same time Mac realises where he wants to be – cheering on Catherine at the finish line. To Nige’s annoyance, Brian goes with Mac. They hitch a ride into town. Emma is out shopping with Michelle when she scratches a man’s car door. He abuses her and Michelle punches him in the face. Brian, guilty from his near miss at the hens party, is delighted to see Emma but she has bad news – Michelle has been arrested for assault. Meanwhile, Catherine has a personal triumph when she finishes the race even though there’s no one to meet her. She declines Cory’s advances and is delighted when Mac finally arrives. They go back to his house, dance, and finally get it on.
