The Walking Dead: Exclusive First Photos and Intel on New Characters (Including Merritt Wever as Denise) - EW.com

The town of Alexandria on The Walking Dead is about to get a little bit bigger, and we have some new intel and photos on some of the characters we’ll be meeting for the first time when the show returns for season 6 on Oct. 11, including those played by newcomers Ethan Embry and Merritt Wever . Wever, who won an Emmy playing nurse Zoe Barkow on Nurse Jackie , now gets a promotion to full-blown doctor. We can reveal she will be playing Dr. Denise Cloyd, a character from The Walking Dead comic, and you can see the first photo of Wever as Denise above. But that’s not the only scoop we have for you. Embry (seen most recently on Netflix’s Grace and Frankie ) is also joining the cast, and in addition to the exclusive first photo of him above, we can also reveal that he is playing the role of Carter. Scott Gimple says Carter serves as a composite of different people from the original comic. "Ethan plays a combo of a few characters that we actually haven’t hit yet or weren’t able to hit in other characters," says Gimple. In addition to these two newbies, we’ll also be meeting another Alexandrian in season 6. It’s already been announced that Corey Hawkins ( Straight Outta Compton ) will be playing a character named Heath from the comic who is a supply-runner for the town (and one who becomes romantically linked to Denise in the original source material), but we’ve got an exclusive new photo for you above. 'Nurse Jackie's' Edie Falco has 'known and loved many addicts'

Even if her personal foibles have made her less than the ideal role model for the medical profession, Jackie Peyton is leaving her mark on television. In the series' seventh and final season, which starts Sunday (April 12), Edie Falco winds down her title portrayal of Showtime's "Nurse Jackie." Her work as the addict and emergency-room staffer earned her a 2010 Emmy Award to add to the three she won as Carmela on HBO's "The Sopranos," and she allows that she's learned much from playing Jackie."I have known and loved many addicts in my life," Falco tellsZap2it, "and it is a frustrating and no-win proposition. And it has been very interesting to be on the other side of it, to kind of get a taste of what kind of misery they must have to go through, really being at the mercy of something that's bigger than them."So, it's given me a lot more compassion for the... http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Zap2it/~3/pUd41Fi-bsY/nurse_jackies_edie_falco_known_loved_addicts-2015-04
