The “Outlander” series spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history, and adventure in one grandiose tale. It follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Absolutely love this series- only 3 episodes in I decided to buy the books on which the series is based, and have not regretted it one bit! The chemistry between the characters is magic, and it's lovely to hear some natural Scottish accents *Cough* Highlander *Cough* -I really, really hope the series will do well!

Could Claire Randall have ever imagined that the boring history lessons her husband goes on about would actually come in handy? Probably not at the time, but when she gets transported back in time, the stories help save her life. The back and forth between two realms works well in this sexy history lesson of sorts. The steamy chemistry between both her then-and-now partners are equally convincing as it is naughty. I'd personally like Claire to never find her way back home. The story-line gets a little sleepy at times but don't worry, the intensely sexual sex scene is around the corner. Worth a watch. More for female audiences.

I absolutely love Outlander! It's the first TV show in a long time that i can genuinely say it's been difficult to wait for the next episode. I mark off the days of the week, waiting. I love the plot, characters, cast, and it's setting. I already feel it will be painful waiting for season two, i have no doubt in my mind about it's renewal :)

Absolutely love this show! Too bad they get us hooked on the story and then go on hiatus until April 2015... someone was not thinking clearly here!

I read the book years ago and now I am reading it again. They have done such an excellent job making the book into a series. The entire cast is doing a fantastic job bringing this wonderful story to life. Great show!

OUTLANDER - CURRENT

Outlander succeeds admirably, and partly that’s because it follows the bent of both of its creators: It refuses to sit comfortably in any genre. It has the look and feel of a sweeping “Game of Thrones” kind of epic filled with romance, intrigue and violence. There is very little urgency in the storytelling--layers of voiceover bits don't help, even--and therefore Outlander can hardly be described as compelling. In many ways, this is a story well and thoroughly told but with almost none of the smart pacing of similarly dense fictions like Game of Thrones. And yet the world created in Outlander is not without interest.

I can barely stand the wait for the next episode!

I'm in love with Jamie. Isn't he just the knight in shining armor we all dream about?

Great chemistry between the leads.

Since I wasn't around in the 1700's I just have to imagine they are doing a superb job of showing it to us as it would have been. Love the accents. Thank God for closed captioning ;)

Having read Diana Gabaldon's books many years ago, I was intrigued to see a TV adaptation. Based on the first episode I think this may well be a very good series. It may seem like a slow start based on the first episode, but the back story is needed in order for other things to make sense further on. I was pleased to say that I felt it was very true to the original book, but I see that Ms Gabaldon is a consultant for the TV show so this is how it should be. I hope that it stays true to the books in the upcoming episodes.

There wasn't anything that jarred historically from my personal knowledge (not an expert, just an enthusiast). The use of proper Scottish Gaelic is exactly as described in the books and the physical descriptions of the characters are very similar to the actors chosen to play the roles. This episode was good, I always withhold full judgement until further into a series, but it's looking good. Anyone into fantasy, time travel, historical drama with a large smattering of romantic entanglements should enjoy this immensely.

Between the lady Druid dance in the credits and the voiceover, it's kind of hilariously terrible--but I don't have anything better to watch on Saturday nights and at least it has nice cinematography.
