Planet Dinosaur is a documentary series which uses the latest CGI and cutting-edge research to reveal the truth about the terrifying world of dinosaurs.
The documentary concludes by focusing on dinosaurs' extraordinary ability to adapt to their surroundings, including the nothronychus, a carnivore that gave up eating meat to survive. The film also reveals how, despite their success as hunters or foragers, the creatures fell victim to the deadly illness botulism, and suggests their ultimate downfall came about when a nine-mile-wide asteroid smashed into the Earth, triggering a cataclysmic chain of events that wiped out 60 per cent of all species on the planet.
Documentary bringing to life the giant predators and strange beasts that roamed Earth almost 100 million years ago, focusing on some of the new species discovered over the past two decades. The opening programme travels to prehistoric North Africa, where the carcharodontosaurus, a lizard-like carnivore with shark-like teeth more than six inches long, and the spinosaurus - at four metres, one of the biggest killers to walk the planet - once battled for supremacy.
