Revenge Reviews & Ratings

60 minutes

Emily Thorne (Emily Van Camp) is new to the Hamptons. She's met some of her wealthy neighbors, has made a few new friends and seemingly blends into the town. But something is a little odd about a young girl living in a wealthy town all on her own, and the truth is that Emily isn't exactly new to the neighborhood. In fact, this was once her old neighborhood, until something bad happened that ruined her family and their reputation. Now Emily is back, and she's returned to right some of those wrongs in the best way she knows how – with a vengeance.

I loved loved loved this show! from the first episode to the end. I was a dedicated viewer. Yes the show had it ups and down but they never lost the overall direction of the plot. I am glad they concluded it before it got cancelled

This show started out so well. Emily Van Camp proved she could stand her own opposite Madeline Stowe. This is no easy feat. The two played a great game for the first couple of seasons. It was intriguing and suspenseful. Well acted with characters that always had something up their sleeve.

But the show has long run out of ideas. Adding new characters who have new feuds that aren't half as interesting as the original storyline. They pulled the long dead character is really alive bit that has been so overused it rarely works. It didn't here. It was predictable and uninteresting.

Watch the first season for how good it was. Watch the next two if you haven't got any other shows in your queue. Skip the 4th unless you really need to see the ending. For some reason I'm still watching the 4th but generally as background noise.

I didn't think this show would hold my attention and that it would be canceled very soon after the first, maybe second season. That was all before I started watching it. I really want Amanda/Emily to have her "happy ending" but revenge itself is very complicated and breeds more revenge. Kinda like Gandhi's (or was it and MLK's) quote, "Violence begets violence, hate begets hate." Probably not said exactly like that, but you get the idea. The writing, the acting and the story lines that is standard in this show is amazing. Great and surprising plot twists. I get mad when the episode ends, and can't wait for the next one. I am really liking the relationship between Nolan and Louise. Louise is so much fun and full of surprises. I love the loyalty Nolan and Jack have for Amanda/Emily. I just hope David Clarke doesn't screw things up, with his naivety and thinking with the wrong part of his body. Great show. Keep it up y'all!

Seasons 1-2 were (in my opinion) much better than the recent ones. Over time its become less and less about revenge on all of the people involved and more and more about Emily's drama with the Graysons. Also, they need to stop killing off characters-that many dead bodies would definitely cause suspicion.... They should stop resurrecting people too!
All my criticism aside though-- I do like the show and you do become invested in some of the characters. I would recommend this to hardcore drama fans.

Is it just me or does everyone on this show have a high pitched voice? If I watch Revenge after watching Arrow (Arrow is a show where the male character's voices sound like real men and the female character's voices sound like strong, capable women) I typically have to turn the volume down because Emily sounds like a teenager but oddly enough Victoria's voice is also very high pitched, as is Nolan's.

I've only noticed it this season, but then again, I just started watching Arrow, so maybe it is something I'm just noticing.

As for the show, it was engaging in season 1, interesting in season 2, and now I'm just wondering why they don't cancel it. The acting quality has never been "Wow!" so it is just an okay show.

Love this show! Filled with intrigue and mind games. At some point one of the seasons mellows down a bit but the directors definitely know how to turn that around. If you love a nice plot and like movies like "the count of monte cristo" than this is the show for you.
