I just want to say that after watching this show I have a new found respect for the art of drag queens. The show is hilarious and the cross-dressing performances are amazing. May their engines always start...!

This show is just so entertaining and actually educational. I'm gay and I had so much preconceived ideas on Drag Queens, mixing them wrongly with transvestites, transgender people and so on (and it made me discover Paris is Burning, amazing doumentary). I learned a lot and found myself admiring both the persons and the characters they play. It takes some balls (even tucked) to go out and do what they do. And when it's done with so much talent and art, one can only admire and bow to them. My favourites : Jujubee, Raven, Raja, Manila Luzon, Latrice Royale, Sharon Needles, Alaska, Jinx, Adore, BenDelaCreme, Ginger Minj and of course, the queen of them all (apart from Mama Ru) : BIANCA DEL FUCKING RIO. Just can't get enough of her.

Do you enjoy reality television shows like America’s Next Top Model or Project Runway? If you do, then Rupaul’s Drag Race is the show for you! The world famous drag queen Rupaul Charles started this show in 2009. When the show first aired there were only nine queens to compete against each other for a cash prize of $20,000, a lifetime supply of MAC cosmetics, featured in LA eyeworks’ campaign, and to headline LOGO TV’s drag race tour (The prizes vary every season and the cash prize has since increased to $100,000). The basis of the show is drag queens, men dressed as women, compete against each other they are given many different challenges that include, sewing outfits that match the themes they are given, photoshoots, acting challenges, singing and songwriting, and many more. To be America’s next drag superstar the queens have to have Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent. The show is predominantly a show that is all about entertainment, but it does touch on some serious topics like in episode six of season four, “Float your Boat” the queens were supposed to design boats that symbolized the colors and meanings of the stripes on the pride flag. The queens are talking about the meanings of the colors on the pride flag this conversation while speaking about the color red which represents life they connected that to the Stonewall Riots a very important movement that lead to the gay liberation movement. Before watching this show, I knew nothing about this event, and after I did research on it, I found it to be very relatable to black history and the struggles black people went through to be accepted in America. This show has also influenced many other shows like Lipsync Battle and pop culture as a whole. If their performances on the main challenges aren’t up to par, the bottom two queens lip sync against each other and whoever does better stays and the one that doesn’t has to “sashay away” and is eliminated. This show has opened up a new world of things I'm not used to seeing, like the whole show is about men dressing up as women but you don't realize how impactful that really is, at least to me. Seeing a person so confident in themselves that they are willing to dress as another gender for the entertainment of others is inspiring. I took a class on feminism learning all about women feminists, through this show I discovered how men can be feminists and appreciate a woman's worth. Overall I think this show is awesome, there are really no flaws (although I wish the episodes were longer so the entertainment never stops), it's everything you and I want in a reality tv show but isn’t overly cheesy or cliche. Rupaul’s Drag Race is doing very well the ninth season is coming out soon. As the series continues, it grasps the attention of new viewers and for people like me that have been fans for over five years and has watched every season the show continues to entertain because the theme and the queens changes every season.
