Another great week of television is upon us! Though many shows are being preempted on Tuesday evening due to an Obama Press Conference, there's still a lot to look forward to: 1. Finale night on HBO ! - Blink and you miss all of these 10 episode seasons (or less) of HBO Original Series. Big Love , Flight of the Conchords and Eastbound & Down all have season finales this Sunday. 2. Desperate Housewives has a killer episode! - This has been publicized so much that I don't even think it merits a spoiler warning, but spoiler alert - this is the one where they kill off the person that we've been reading for months would be getting killed off. 3. The Secret Life of The American Teenager finishes its season! - I've fallen behind on this series since its January return, but if there's an episode to watch, it's gotta be the one where Amy actually has the baby! 4. ABC Family premieres new comedy fare! After Secret Life concludes, stick around to see 2 new comedy series premiere on ABC Family - Roommates and Canadian import Sophie . 5. Cold Snap on Heroes Too bad I've given up on Heroes awhile ago, but I've been told the series is on the uptake, and Greg Grunberg has tweeted that tonight's new episode is the "Best. Episode. Ever." 6. The Real Housewives of New York City ! With another Obama speech scheduled for Tuesday, the Real Housewives of NYC is one of only a few new programs airing that night. Luckily, it's one of the few I care about. This show is indescribably addictive. Countess LuAnn is such a piece of work. Heck, they're all pieces of work (except maybe Bethenny)...and we love them all the more for it! 7. Samantha Who? returns to ABC! This show has been rescheduled and shuffled around too many times for comfort, but the charming Christina Applegate comedy finally makes its return to the ABC lineup this Thursday night! 8. ABC launches another new comedy, In the Motherhood ! - Better Off Ted did not make much of a ratings bite when it premiered on ABC last Wednesday, so will this new comedy fare any better? It does star funny women Cheryl Hines and Megan Mullaly, so perhaps it will draw a bigger crowd. 9. Derek stops being a party pooper on Grey's Anatomy ! - I don't really care about the whole "Izzie's got a 5% chance to live story line" on Grey's, but I do care that one of the few characters who wasn't previously insufferable has turned a corner...in the wrong direction. Thus, I am excited that Derek appears to be coming out of his lame-tard growly crisis and will be performing surgery once more...on Izzie. 10. Dollhouse keeps getting better...we hope! - We agree that last week's Dollhouse was the best yet (as promised), but can the show keep it up? What are you looking forward to this week?
Don't panic. Samantha Who? hasn't been canceled. But it has wrapped production for the season, which has freed Jennifer Esposito up to moonlight on cable's hottest show. Sources confirm to me exclusively that Esposito has booked a multi-episode arc on Burn Notice as Michael's (Jeffrey Donovan) latest arch nemesis. Her character, Michelle Paxon, is a Miami PD detective who becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth about Michael. Esposito will debut early into BN's third season, which started shooting last week and is scheduled to premiere in June. Source here
ABC has announced some changes to their schedule including a return date for the recently displaced Samantha Who? . Samantha Who? will be moving away from its former Monday night home over to Thursdays at 8 beginning March 26. Also on that day, new comedy In the Motherhood will debut at 8:30. Motherhood stars Cheryl Hines ( Curb Your Enthusiasm ) and Megan Mullally ( Will & Grace ). Fear not, Ugly Betty will return to its Thursday at 8 slot after these comedies finish up their runs. Also finding a home is new comedy Better Off Ted with Jay Harrington (Dr. Wyatt on Private Practice ) and Portia di Rossi ( Arrested Development ). Ted will premiere on Wednesday March 18 at 8:30PM. Better Off Ted centers around a man who runs a research and development department at a morally questionable corporation, Veridian Technologies. Check out a trailer . Ted's lead-in will be Scrubs , which ABC is moving to Wednesdays at 8 beginning on the 18th as well. Source: Variety .
Samantha Who? may be taking a temporarily leave of absence to accommodate The Bachelor , but there'll be a fresh face in town when it returns. Angie Harmon is slated to guest-star as Gigi, the insane ex-wife of Sam's current beau, Winston Funk (Billy Zane), a show rep tells TVGuide.com. Harmon, last seen on the small screen in Women's Murder Club, is scheduled to drop by on the ABC series' 19th episode, titled "The Other Woman." Bumped by inflated Bachelor episodes, Samantha Who? is tentatively scheduled to return Jan. 26. What do you think of Harmon's casting? Can she hold her own against Christina Applegate? Source here
Samantha Who? fans will be disappointed to learn that the show is currently homeless. Originally scheduled to return next week, ABC has instead opted to pull the show from the schedule in favor of showing extended The Bachelor episodes. The Bachelor has been gaining in the ratings since its premiere; this week's episode attracted 9.9 million viewers. ABC says they will announce a new slot for the comedy within the next few days. As Zap2it points out, pairing the show with Scrubs on Tuesdays (instead of burning off Scrubs quickly with double episodes every week) seems like a logical choice. Where on the schedule would you like to find Samantha? Edit 1/26: ABC has scheduled the series to return on Thursday, March 26 at 8PM where it will be paired with new series In the Motherhood in the place of Ugly Betty . Betty will return after these shows finish their runs in this slot. Source: zap2it
Although the TV Schedule on SideReel says that it will be back on January 19th, the ABC site clearly states that the show won't be back before January 26th. But you can already see a trailer of the next episode on its site.
