The British cult hit TV show Skins is being adapted into a film. For those unfamiliar with the show (like myself) let us consult Wikipedia: 'Skins is a British teen drama that follows a group of teenagers in Bristol, South West England through the two years of sixth form (similar to our 'grades'ÃÂ). The controversial plotline explores issues including dysfunctional families, personality and eating disorders, mental illness and death. The show is notable for its casting of amateur actors and young writers. The cast are entirely replaced every two series, when the characters leave sixth form' . To Read More Click Here .
Confused by that headline? Then you obviously haven't been watching Skins , the boundary-pushing British teen soap aired stateside by BBC America. (In Skins' exaggerated brit-speak, 'safe' = cool, and 'minging' = disgusting.) Thanks to its frank, unvarnished look at teen life - not to mention beyond-graphic scenes of sex and drug use that make the Gossip Girl set look like a bunch of teetotaling prudes - the series has earned a cult following on both sides of the pond. And now MTV is reportedly moving forward with an American remake, Variety reports. As a huge fan of the show, I can't wait. It's been too long since MTV's had a scripted show with some substance, and it'll be good for the network to put a spotlight on teens who fall in the middle ground between The Hills and True Life: I'm Addicted to Orange Flavored Children's Cough Medicine. Dan's Media Digest reports: E4 have greenlit a fifth and sixth series of popular teen-drama Skins. As it tradition for the show's two-year turnaround, this means a new group of characters will be cast. Auditions are being held throughout April in London and Bristol. Camilla Campbell, Head of Channel 4 Drama: "Skins has always been about new talent, both on and off screen, and the decision to recast the series every two years is one of the reasons Skins stands out as a truly distinctive show." "It's a testament to the talent and commitment of [creator] Bryan Elsley and his team that they are able to pull this off. Now another group of teenagers will have the rare opportunity to be part of a British drama series that says something about their lives and is one of the most exciting shows on television. I can't wait to find out who they will be."
Check out some great cast photos and a new preview for Series 4 of SKINS, which premieres on January 28 on E4 (no US date yet). The season will have 8 episodes and will continue the story of the season 3 characters. Thanks to SkinsBrasil.com (via Critictoo) for the beautiful cast photos, which make me wish Skins was on already (I need my Skins fix). And did you guys see that new preview? I think we can all agree that it's time for Skins to be back on TV. The only sad thing is that this is the final season for this cast that we have all come to love. And so if we get a fifth season of Skins, it will be with a whole new cast (except for one character which would tie both casts, the way Effie did with the original cast, from what I understand). Personally, I'm really invested in the whole Effy/Freddie/Cook love triangle, and from the looks of the preview, we might be getting some new drama in this fourth series, just the way we like them. Check out the preview and more cast photos below. Source & Preview
The first episode of the new season will be aired on the 28th January on E4 this is a trailer for the new season, looks good;
The newest season is currently filming and is tentatively set to air in January of 2010 on E4. It will feature the same cast as series 3.
Don't miss the Season 3 finale of Skins "Everyone" this Thursday at 9pm on BBC America . While I started out not too sure about the new cast of Skins, throughout this season I have fallen in love with these new characters and love them almost as much as the first group. And by the look of this clip we're going to see more of the Effy, Cook, Freddie love triangle. Can't wait! Synopsis: Cook and Effy are in self-imposed exile from the gang, having gone to stay with Cook's father. Effy is running away from everything she's ever known and Cook enables her escape. Problem is, Cook is slowly falling out of lust, and in love with her. Back in Bristol, JJ tries to snap Freddie out of his depressed stupor, down about the loss of both his best friend, and the girl he loves. Freddie and JJ force Effy to confront who she is and what she really wants. She has to make amends for the damage she's caused. She also has to decide whether to follow her heart. Can the four friends find a way forward together? Source & Video
