Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Reviews & Ratings

60 minutes

Star Trek DS9 began while Star Trek: The Next Generation was still on the air, and there were several crossover episodes between the two shows. Unlike its predecessor, DS9 often broke the rules laid down by Gene Roddenberry, such as the prohibition against interpersonal conflicts between the main characters. In contrast with the other Star Trek programs DS9 took place on a space station instead of a starship. This made continuing story arcs and the appearance of recurring characters much more feasible. The series also depended on darker themes, less physical exploration of space, and an emphasis (in later seasons) on many aspects of war.

Not the best star trek but far from the worst. I love the characters and the new races introduces and I like that it takes place away from the federation but is still in contact with the federation.

My favourite of the Star Treks. Always seemed much darker than the others.

It wasn't the best series from the Star Trek franchise. Prefered the others but I still watched it for the entertainment.

This Star Trek spin-off got better and better over time. We had Kirk, the Milkyway's Starfleet playboy, Picard, the sensitive and sometimes too reluctant captain and then came Sisko. One abandoned Cardassian Station close to a wormhole and a crew of the Federation and its commander. We learned that being in the Federation does allow to be human with all its facets: love, anger, rage, compassion and yes, they do indeed have the capability to shoot first and not wait till the shields are almost down! It was simply good!
