(Season 5 and Swan Song review) Everyone told me I wasn’t ready for the incoming feels of the finale and I DEFINITELY WASN’T. Beautiful episode and wonderfully acted and directed, I salute you you. To summarise, series 5 consists of a) Lots of killing supernatural creatures b) finding a way to stop Lucifer/outrun destiny c) WINCHESTER BROTHERLY BONDING AND HEARTBREAK. The return of plot arcs such as croatoan virus was a really fantastic tie-in as was the introduction of Endverse. Oh my gosh, it was so interesting to see everyone in the future and Castiel's change in character in end verse is soul destroying. Really interesting twist for one episode and I hope the come back to it in the show one day. Speaking of soul destroying, watching “Dark Side of the Moon” where we see both Dean and Sam’s versions of heaven made me cry, as well as Dean’s realisation that Sam’s happiest memories don’t feature him. The difference in both the brothers as well as their similarities is really what keeps me watching. On the happier side, it was so good to see the return of Anna, Adam, Gabriel and The Harvelles (wait, actually all their death scenes was PAINFUL to watch) umm.. well it was good to see Chuck again who didn’t die… Also the amount of Dean and Cas moments in this series were GREAT. “Free to Be You and Me” is definitely the point where their relationship changes, and throughout the entire series the way Dean and Cas rely on each other so much more and learn to trust/work together is beautiful to see. THE FINALE THOUGH KILLED ME LIKE ACTUALLY KILLED ME seriously, it has been a long time since I cried that much at a tv show and I kind of knew what was going to happen and oh my gosh I am still not over all of the Winchester family feelings coming to the surface in the finale. Overall, A really solid series with a large variety of mythology, character development and ridiculously funny episodes (e.g. Changing Channels was just so brilliant, I can’t) and a few emotional punches to help the show power on through.
