Terra Nova: Dinosaurs Rule in Fox's Ambitious New Sci-Fi Saga

After what seems like 85 million years of anticipation, Fox's dinosaur adventure Terra Nova finally premieres tonight. To mark the occasion, Fox has given TV Guide Magazine this exclusive piece of promotional art. The shot mixes a live-action photo of series stars Jason O'Mara and Stephen Lang (taken on location in the Australian forest) with a computer-generated image of a rampaging carnosaur — one of the first dinosaurs to be seen tonight. The special effects team knows that its dinosaurs could make or break the show. "Once audiences see the best [of CGI], they ... http://www.tvguide.com/News/Terra-Nova-Dinosaurs-1038096.aspx?rss=breakingnews

TERRA NOVA “Genesis” Episode 1

TERRA NOVA  “Genesis” Episode 1 premieres Monday September 26 at 8pm on FOX. Episode Synopsis:  From executive producers Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin comes an epic family adventure 85 million years in the making. TERRA NOVA follows an ordinary family on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as part of a daring experiment to save the human race. The Shannon family joins the Tenth Pilgrimage of settlers to Terra Nova, the first colony established in this beautiful yet foreboding land. Jim Shannon, a devoted father with a checkered past, guides his family through this new world of limitless beauty, mystery and terror. Jim’s wife, Elisabeth, is a trauma surgeon and the newest addition to Terra Nova’s medical team. Josh is their 17-year-old son who is torn to leave life as he knows it behind; upon arriving at the settlement, he finds himself instantly drawn to the beautiful and rule-breaking Skye. Maddy, Josh’s endearingly awkward 15-year-old sister, hopes Terra Nova will give her a chance to reinvent herself. Although Elisabeth’s medical training secured the family a spot on the pilgrimage, a secret involving their five-year-old daughter, Zoe, soon endangers their place in this utopia. Upon the Shannons’ arrival, they are introduced to Cmdr. Nathaniel Taylor, the charismatic and heroic first pioneer and leader of the settlement. Taylor warns the travelers that while Terra Nova is a place of new opportunities and fresh beginnings, all is not as idyllic as it initially appears. Along with blue skies, towering waterfalls and lush vegetation, the surrounding terrain is teeming with danger – and not just of the man-eating dinosaur variety. There is also a splinter colony of renegades led by the battle-hardened Mira, who is vehemently opposed to Taylor and his leadership. 'Terra Nova' first look: Watch out for invisible dinosaurs

Just hours after announcing its May 23 premiere date, FOX sort of took the steam out of "Terra Nova" by confessing that the first promo screened at the Television Critics Association press tour would be free of special effects. Turns out, it's still spectacularly awesome without them. FOX debuted three minutes of the of the Steven Spielberg-produced series, which just wrapped pilot production before the new year, and it's even compelling, sans dinosaurs. The spot opens with a post-apocalyptic future, apparently 2149. And despite the fact that even hobos have iPads, everyone is miserable. People are wearing steampunk gas masks and looking grumpy. A chosen few are sent to join a colony on prehistoric earth, and the latest expats are the Shannons. They seem to be escaping their circumstances as well as themselves. But the past turns out to be so pretty and fun! Your estranged parents fall in love again, and women take. The last actor to join the cast of the time-traveling drama is Christine Adams (The Whole Truth), who will play Mira — a battle-hardened resident of Terra Nova who gets to know the Shannon family. Other actors who have previously joined the high-concept series include Jason O’Mara (Life on Mars), Stephen Lang (Avatar), Shelley Conn (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Mido Hamada (24), Allison Miller (Boston Legal), and Landon Liboiron (Degrassi: The Next Generation). Fox Pushes Terra Nova Back to Fall 2011

Fox will launch Steven Spielberg's time-traveling drama, Terra Nova , in the fall of 2011, the network announced Monday. Terra Nova was originally scheduled to debut at midseason, but the hourlong drama will now preview its first episode in May. The show will then launch its first season later in the fall. Fox used the same strategy in 2009 to premiere Glee and again to debut The Good Guys this last May. "It was mainly due to the scope of what this show is going to take," Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly said about the delay at the Television Critics Association's fall previews. "Hopefully we'll be able to recreate the same thing we did with Glee." Starring Life on Mars' Jason O'Mara, Terra Nova chronicles a group of settlers from 2149 who travel back 85 million years to prehistoric Earth to try to save the planet from destruction. Source Here

TERRA NOVA on FOX First Look

Take a first look at FOX's new series TERRA NOVA. After FOX's 2010-2011 primetime TV schedule announcement, it's time to take a closer look at all the new shows that will soon grace our screens. Unfortunately, FOX hasn't released much about the show yet, but hopefully we'll get more soon. TERRA NOVA follows an ordinary family embarking on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a massive experiment to save the human race. With the majority of plant and animal life extinct, devotion to science has brought mankind to the brink of destruction, but has also provided its only hope for salvation. Knowing there is no way to reverse the damage to the planet, a coalition of scientists has managed to open up a fracture in the space-time continuum, creating a portal to prehistoric Earth.
