The Bridge Reviews & Ratings

60 minutes

Set on the border between El Paso and Juarez, The Bridge centers on two detectives, one from the United States and one from Mexico, who must work together to hunt down a serial killer operating on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border. Executive Producers Meredith Stiehm (Homeland) and novelist and television writer/producer Elwood Reid adapted The Bridge for American television from the international hit series Bron, which was set on the border of Denmark and Sweden. Bron was produced by Shine Group's Filmlance and Denmark's Nimbus Film Production.

A really interesting show that isn't afraid to tell a harsh story. Diane Kruger convincingly embodies the role of the anti-social detective.

This show has one of the most baffling lead characters in Sonya - who seems to have no clue about any social situation, yet she has all the attributes of a great detective - able to look at things in a different way. So flawed, yet so brilliant. The show is dark and certainly timely, with the border and immigration in the forefront of the news. I'm impressed at the insights of how both sides see each other. So glad The Bridge got at least a second season - hope it will keep going.

Great crime drama, gritty and realistic, with an interesting story, great writing and top performances by stars like Diane Kruger, Demian Bichir, Ted Levine and Franka Potente.

It's a shame this got cancelled after season 2, but the first two seasons are still very much worth the watch.

The reason you have to watch this show is Diane Kruger. She is awesome as detective Sonya Cross. She works for the homicide division for El Paso, near the border of Mexico. She has to work together with her counterpart from the Homicide in Mexico to find a serial killer who left a body at the crossing of the border.

Sonya Cross is a great detective but comes with a manual. Her social skills are not great. She does not know how to handle certain social situations. It is impressive to see how Diane Kruger portray this character.

Not being a fan of cop shows, I was drawn to this for the sole reason of it being in Texas. I was hooked from the first episode. It's dark and addictive story and character evolutions makes it quite the unique show. Every episode ending in a more or less cliff hanger that leave you craving more. Plus it adds a more real feel than what is usually prorated by Hollywood about the struggles of the Texas/Mexico boarder, and the all to real drug war and human trafficking, and sex slaves that are an increasing plague to small and large boarder towns. Every episode leaves you with a real feel for what is going on in a normally unmentioned corner of the United States.
