The Event: Almost Every Character on the Show Is Now Exactly the Opposite of What He/She Used to Be

Things were simpler when your grandma and grandpa went to the moving pictures or watched stories on their black-and-white television: The good guys were handsome and wore white, the bad guys had scars on their faces and wore black. But storytelling has gotten more complicated since then, and shows like Lost have played tricks on our minds by convincing us to feel one way about a character and then clubbing us over the head with their true intentions. The Event is playing this game of psych! so often, that getting a grasp on anyone's moral code is as difficult as duping an alien First Lady into taking a DNA test. Sophia, once a benevolent alien gal, is now a bloodthirsty despot who's...   http://www.tv.com/story/25551.html

TV ratings: 'Dancing With the Stars,' UConn share Monday title

Fast National ratings for Monday, April 4, 2011An aesthetically unpleasant final NCAA tournament game drove its ratings down compared to last year, but UConn's victory over Butler still gave CBS a demographic win Monday night. "Dancing With the Stars" remained at the top of the overall ratings, slipping a little from its first two weeks but still drawing better than 21 million viewers.ABC ended up leading the night overall with 18.15 million viewers and an 11.4 rating/17 share in households. CBS (14.4 million, 8.6/13) came in second; its numbers will change some in the final nationals because of the live telecast. There was a steep drop from there to third-place NBC (4.6 million), which finished a little ahead of FOX (4.15 million, 2.6/4). The CW's reruns drew just 771,000 people and a 0.5/1.CBS led the adults 18-49 demo with a 5.0 rating, a point better than ABC's 4.0. None of the other networks was really... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/04/tv-ratings-dancing-with-the-stars-uconn-share-monday-title.html

'Chuck,' 'Outsourced,' 'Parenthood': Keep 'em or kill 'em?

NBC's roster of bubble shows is a little smaller than we would have anticipated earlier this month, thanks to the pickups of "Community" and "Parks and Recreation" a couple weeks ago. But there are still several shows whose fates could go either way in the next six weeks. One of them, "Chuck," is a Bubble Watch perennial, a show with a passionate fan base that's not quite big enough to make its renewal an easy decision. Whatever decision NBC ends up making, though, we can count on it being one of the more closely watched shows as the May upfronts approach.Another big factor will be how much of a stamp NBC's new leadership, headed by former Showtime chief Bob Greenblatt, will want to put on the 2011-12 schedule. The network has 22 pilots -- 10 dramas and 12 comedies -- in development, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see NBC do a pretty radical makeover... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/03/chuck-outsourced-parenthood-keep-em-or-kill-em.html

TV ratings: 'Dancing With the Stars' steady in Week 2 as ABC rules Monday

Fast National ratings for Monday, March 28, 2011The second episode of "Dancing With the Stars" drew ratings nearly identical to its premiere last week, giving ABC another huge win on Monday night. CBS and FOX were both in repeats for most of the night, so the margin of victory was even wider than last week. Here's how dominant ABC was Monday: Its average of 19.2 million viewers (with an 11.9 rating/18 share in households) was greater than the combined total of the other four English-language networks. CBS was the best of the rest with 6.25 million viewers and a 4.1/6. NBC (5.6 million, 3.7/6) came in third overall, followed by FOX (4.4 million, 2.8/4). The CW was barely there with just 646,000 viewers and a 0.5/1.ABC also ruled the adults 18-49 demographic with a 4.5 rating; no one else broke the 2.0 barrier. CBS took second in the demo with a 1.9. FOX's 1.3 edged NBC's... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/03/tv-ratings-dancing-with-the-stars-steady-in-week-2-as-abc-rules-monday.html
