The Glee Project Reviews & Ratings

60 minutes

From Ryan Murphy, the creator and executive producer of "Glee," comes a groundbreaking and authentic, ten episode documentary reality series. "The Glee Project" will find and train a group of phenomenally talented performers who will compete against each other to win a role on the hottest show on television. From thousands of entries, and after a nationwide talent search, Robert Ulrich, the casting director for "Glee," will uncover a unique group of artists from both professional and amateur backgrounds. In the true spirit of "Glee," every underdog who has been waiting for the right opportunity to showcase his/her talent now has a fighting chance. Across ten episodes, the hopefuls will be narrowed down through intensive rounds of workshops, "Glee"-themed assignments and call-backs as a team of "Glee" insiders carefully assess which one of them has what it takes to be the next new face, and voice, of "Glee." The stakes are enormous - a prize that money can't buy - a multi-episode guest starring role on "Glee," and a genuine shot at fame and fortune for a talent who truly deserves it.

Might be more fun than the show Glee itself. One of my favorite reality competitions. Cool songs and a great behind-the-scene look

This spinoff casting show went exactly the way of its original mothershow. Just like Glee itself, this one started off really nice, with interesting people and fresh ideas, but after a while it became very safe and boring. The Glee Projecs ended up with quite an exciting first season, whose quirky and lovely winners could sing but unfortunately couldn't act very well, and a decent actor as the winder of the second season, who unfortunately wasn quite ordinary in any other way.

Director Ryan Murphy seems to have the same problem with all of his shows. He starts them off with daring and new ideas and concepts, but after they turn out to be commercially successful he plays it safe and everything becomes boring. It was like that with Glee, the Glee project and by the way American Horror Story has exactly the same problem.

Love! But sometimes it takes to long and not the right person gets to win.

I think glee should continue it was the best thing I've ever watched and should not have been cancelled after season 6 I think it was "just getting started" please bring it back I'm not the only one who misses it I promise there are so many people out there that love GLEE. It should have never been canceled.

There are a few things that bother me with The Glee Project, it's entertaining and is the same canvas as Glee except it's the "real" life. First thing I noticed was how badly the cuts are made, of course we are shown what the show wants us to see and direct our attention on the people and situations like any other reality show. Second, I quickly got the impression that, despite the goody goody "we're all losers and proud of it, we're gonna inspire kids all over the world" concept of Glee, the contenders had to follow a canvas and had to conform to some expectations. Be different, inspire but on 20 different conditions. One second they are being asked to be true to who they (think they) are, the other second they are leaving because they weren't who the mentors thought they were. I guess I just feel like a fool watching this, everything looked very faked and played to me. I think the concept of it all is nice though, it's light and it's always entertaining to see the "behind the scenes" of a music video, the amount of work it takes and the energy put in a song.

i would describe this as a children friendly reality show. It has all the same aspects of any other elimination based reality show with the aspects of suspense, drama (in its own sense) with games/ twists every episode. obviously this is based on the show glee, so it is of more interest and relevance for those who watch that shows, and then its cool to see the winners of this show actually get to play roles on the real glee show!
