TV ratings: 'Sunday Night Football' down but still leads, Sunday 'X Factor' also dips

Fast national ratings for Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011A blowout win for the Chicago Bears over the Minnesota Vikings sent "Sunday Night Football's" ratings down some this week, but NBC still scored the evening's best ratings. FOX got big numbers from its late afternoon NFL game too, but those didn't help a special showing of "The X Factor" that much. Its numbers were not surprisingly below average, considering FOX had relatively little time to promote the episode airing away from its usual spot.ABC, meanwhile, saw "Pan Am's" ratings dip again, while "Desperate Housewives" was basically even with its low numbers from last week.NBC averaged 12.3 million viewers and a 7.6 rating/12 share in households for the night, beating FOX's 11.6 million and 6.9/11. (The numbers for both networks will change some, however, when the adjustments for live sports are factored in.) CBS took third with 10.2 million viewers and a 6.5/10, while ABC (6.9 million, 4.3/7)... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/10/tv-ratings-sunday-night-football-down-but-still-leads-sunday-x-factor-also-dips.html

The Good Wife Photos & Promo: Dylan Baker Returns as Colin Sweeney in Episode 3.05

This week on The Good Wife , Lockhart/Gardner got serious about the economic situation.  First, it decided to stop its pro bono relationship with the local legal aid agency.  Diane also realized that having a bankruptcy division was a smart idea during a recession and asked Will to convince Celeste and her co-workers to come to Lockhart/Gardner when their firm breaks up. Alicia's case of the week was a pro bono one (started before the firm decided to break ties with Legal Aid) that involved a witness to a robbery/murder who became a suspect.  Fortunately, Kalinda managed to pinpoint the real suspect. In the end, Celeste told Will that she was going to start her own firm and Diane's conscience made her want to bring the legal aid in-house because they were losing their funding.  Meanwhile, Eli wants Alicia and Kalinda to work with him full-time, although the others in the firm are resistant to that.  The Justice Department also sent a lawyer in to the State's Attorney's Office to ensure that there are no racial biases. In the October 23 episode of The Good Wife , Alicia runs into a huge stumbling block when her key witness in a case commits suicide.  There is only one person who can testify and save her case: Colin Sweeney (guest star Dylan Baker). Eli will also be taking it upon himself to make some big moves on Peter's behalf.  Lisa Edelstein will be making a guest appearance as Celeste and political strategist Donna Brazile will be appearing as herself. The Good Wife Episode Teaser: From Witness to Suspect

Lisa Edelstein debuted on The Good Wife this week, fighting against Will and Alicia in court and then eventually admitting she needed a new job. Will her character of Celeste Serrano join Lockhart/Gardner? That question is not answered in the following promo, but next Sunday's episode ("Feeding the Rat") will feature Will and Diane discussing the firm's future. It will also center around Alicia's pro bono case, which takes a strange twist when a witness becomes a suspect. The Good Wife Photos & Promo: A Witness Becomes a Suspect in Episode 3.04

The most recent episode of The Good Wife introduced us to one of Will's ex-girlfriends, Celeste Serrano (played by Lisa Edelstein).  Celeste will be sticking around for a few episodes, as she asked Will to join his firm. In this week's episode, Will and Alicia spent several days in a hotel, trying to mediate a medical malpractice case, with Celeste acting as opposing counsel.  Owen returned to watch over the kids and Zach revealed Peter told him about his affair with another woman who wasn't a hooker.  Back at Lockhart/Gardner, Eli was hired by a cheese guild to help crisis manage a listeria outbreak story, at least until he himself was the subject of a news story and he told Diane he didn't appreciate leaks in the office. In the October 16 episode of The Good Wife , Alicia gets involved in a case where a witness to a crime quickly becomes the prime suspect.  But the big question is whether Will and Diane will remain as partners when they both question the firm's direction.  Lisa Edelstein will also be making a guest appearance in this episode, as will Harvey Fierstein as a judge. Top Moments: Conan's Triumphant Reunion and a Pleasurable Horror Story

Our top moments of the week: 12. Tastiest Defense: How do you know when your airline passenger is done? You stick a fork in him, naturally. Or at least, that's what Maggie does on Pan Am when a male first-class flyer (and first-class sleazebag) tries to feel her up and pull into the bathroom. It's about 50 years later, but we'd still stab someone with a fork if they pulled that crap with us. 11. The Edge of Sanity Award: Susan deals with her immense guilt over helping to hide Carlos' murder on Desperate Housewives the only way she knows how... http://www.tvguide.com/News/Moments-Conan-Reunion-Horror-Story-1038487.aspx?rss=breakingnews

TV Ratings: Football dominates, but Andy Rooney's final '60 Minutes' draws a crowd

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011.The football is in full swing, and with that, NBC's domination of Sunday ratings continue. The match-up wasn't a terribly tight game between the Baltimore Ravens and the New York Jets, but it's still football, and that's often good enough.Perhaps the biggest winner of the night was "60 Minutes" which boasted an audience bump of 6 million viewers over last week, mostly due to the retirement of their famed commentator Andy Rooney. The other interesting story to follow was the performance of ABC's new retro-drama "Pan Am." The show slid from last week's 10.9 million viewers to 7.7 million this week. NBC led the night with 14.6 million viewers and a 8.9 rating/14 share in households. CBS followed with 12.9 million (8.0/13). ABC took third with 7.6 million (4.7/7). FOX was in last with 5.8 million (3.3/5).NBC also led the adults 18-49 demographic, with a 5.9 rating. CBS... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/10/fast-national-ratings-for-sunday.html

Top Moments: Flash-Dancing with Nancy Grace and The Good Wife's Sexy Tease

Our top moments of the week: 13. Weirdest Wake-Up Call: After a brokenhearted Walden is rejected again by his estranged wife on Two and a Half Men , he and Alan drink the pain away and wake up naked in each other's arms. They slowly recall the evening's events and realize that they went skinny-dipping. When they ask whose idea it was, the camera pans out to an equally hungover-looking Berta — who has been talking about all the nasty things she wants to do to Walden in her head. Now there's a threesome we don't want to see . 12. Funniest Cold Open: Oyster-shucking is dangerous — and hilarious. The Happy Endings gang spends the weekend in what would've been Alex and Dave's honeymoon suite for some wining and dining, but... http://www.tvguide.com/News/Moments-Dancing-Good-Wife-1038290.aspx?rss=breakingnews
