MTV's 'Inbetweeners' Cast On The Pressure Of Adapting The British Comedy

"The Inbetweeners" is one of the most beloved British comedies of the past decade, managing to garner enough international appeal to amass a sizeable cult following in the US during its three-season run. So naturally, when MTV announced it was planning to adapt the series for American audiences, outrage ensued. ( Especially after the "Skins" debacle .) Luckily, the show has retained much of the charm of its predecessor without wholly retreading its steps. Similar to the way Showtime's "Shameless" utilized plots from the UK version before forging its own path, the US " Inbetweeners " will use certain stories as springboards before heading in an original direction, usually riffing on the most embarrassing elements of the high school experience in a similar way to MTV's other charming teen comedy, " Awkward ." The Inbetweeners: Watch the First Two Minutes of the Series Premiere

They say that you can choose your friends but you can't choose your family, but new kid at Grove High Will McKenzie (Joey Pollari) didn't get to choose his friends either. In the series premiere of MTV's remake of British comedy The Inbetweeners , Will gets assigned a group of guys to show him around school and they don't exactly give him the warmest reception. Neither does the rest of the student body, though, which isn't the greatest sign for the young man going forward. The Inbetweeners also stars Bubba Lewis, Zack Pearlman, Mark L. Young, Alex Frnka, and Brett Gelman. The show will follow the journey of the four guys (Will, Jay, Neil, and Simon) as they make the transition to adulthood and try to gain a little popularity in a high school where they're pretty much invisible. The Inbetweeners Sneak Peek: Painted Driveways and Kurt Cobain

Can the nobodies finally become somebodies? That's the question that The Inbetweeners , MTV's remake of the acclaimed British comedy of the same name, will be trying to answer when it debuts later this month. The show will be following four high school boys trapped in popularity purgatory; they're too cool to be losers and too loser-y to be cool, the kids that float through high school without leaving much of an impression. In the sneak peek for the series premiere, though, they're looking to change that once and for all. In the preview, Simon (Bubba Lewis) makes a grand romantic gesture to his crush in an attempt to get her to notice him for the first time. Granted, it's not exactly "hold up your boombox while a Peter Gabriel song plays" romantic; the young man paints a giant heart on popular girl Carly's driveway, which initially puts her off (to the delight of his friends). But ironically, it's that show of cruelty that gets her to change her mind and invite him over to her house later to talk about what he did. Simon finally got the attention that he had been craving for years, but could Carly be genuinely interested in him? Or is this a move of mere compassion that will leave him hurt down the line? Read More... http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/tvovermind/tvnews/~3/c2j_0b3j7Xs/

Take Your First Look At MTV’s New Series The Inbetweeners [Video]

This summer MTV is looking to continue its streak of successful scripted series with its latest new comedy,  The Inbetweeners . Based on the popular British series of the same name,  The Inbetweeners  will focus on a group of teenage boys who are neither jocks nor proper nerds, putting them right in the middle of the complicated popularity hierarchy that plagues so many high schoolers. According to MTV we can expect to seethe boys  doing everything from “humiliating themselves in an effort to impress the girl of their dreams” to “mercilessly mocking their friend for driving a bright yellow clunker with a cassette  player and one blue door.” Read More... http://www.tvequals.com/2012/07/26/take-your-first-look-at-mtvs-new-series-the-inbetweeners-video/
