'The Mentalist' - 'Green Thumb': Back where we started

Sunday's (Dec. 8) episode of "The Mentalist" took the show back to its crime-solving bread and butter, and it did something else as well: It reintroduced the mischievous side of Patrick Jane. The conclusion to the Red John saga got about as dark as this show ever has -- understandable, given Jane's consuming drive to find and kill Red John. That naturally pushed aside any playful elements to the relationship between Jane and Lisbon or anyone else. But since two-plus years have now passed in the show's timeline -- and Jane is living in the most comfortable prison cell ever -- he's back to being at least a semblance of the guy he was for much of the series. The episode, titled "Green Thumb," gives Jane his first case working with the FBI, and it feels almost like a pilot episode. Abbott and the rest of the FBI team get to be exasperated at Jane's methods and... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-mentalist---green-thumb-back-where-we-started.html

The Mentalist: Jane Gets His Groove Back

Meet the  new Jane , same as the old Jane? It's been three months that Patrick Jane's ( Simon Baker ) been in (isolated) detention on  The Mentalist   — during which time he apparently couldn't find a decent razor — and Abbott ( Rockmond Dunbar ) and Fisher ( Emily Swallow ) are growing impatient, champing at the bit to have Jane join their ranks at the FBI. But there's only one problem: he won't work for them unless all his demands are met, and Lisbon ( Robin Tunney ) is the final holdout. Fisher takes a trip to Washington to personally recruit Lisbon, who's getting increasingly frustrated with the office politics at her desk job, and convinces her to at least hear Jane out.  Read More...   http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mentalist-Jane-Green-Thumb-Recap-1074396.aspx?rss=breakingnews

'The Mentalist's' Robin Tunney on the Red John reveal: 'It's time'

Zap2it: What do you think of the show finally revealing the identity of Patrick Jane's nemesis, Red John?Robin Tunney: I feel like, it's time. There's only so many circles you can go in with it, and I feel like we owe it to our audience. They've been so loyal, that you can only lead them down that road for so long. It's almost like you have to close that door so another can open -- and I think it will.Zap2it: Will solving the murder of Red John cause fans to lose interest?Robin Tunney: I don't think people watch the show because they want to know who Red John is. They watch the show because they enjoy watching Patrick Jane solve crimes in the way that he does. When the show's at its finest, it does have a sense of humor about it.It's not a gory, violent crime show, and the crimes are cerebral, obtuse, weird.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-mentalists-robin-tunney-on-the-red-john-reveal-its-time.html

Exclusive Mentalist Sneak Peek: Jane Gets a Visitor

Will  The Mentalist 's Patrick Jane ( Simon Baker ) ever get out of detention? On Sunday's episode, Jane has been locked up for three months because he and FBI boss Frank Abbott ( Rockmond Dunbar ) are at a standoff. Abbott won't let Jane out unless he agrees to work for the FBI, and Jane won't work for the agency unless all his requests are met — and that includes having Lisbon ( Robin Tunney ) as his partner again.   Read More...     http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mentalist-Green-Thumb-Sneak-Peek-Jane-Lisbon-1074395.aspx?rss=breakingnews

'The Mentalist' - 'My Blue Heaven': Meet the new boss

After five-plus seasons of the CBI and Red John, "The Mentalist" needed to take a beat before settling into its new reality. While Patrick Jane, Lonely Expatriate Do-Gooder, might not be the stuff that series are made of, it was necessary to give Jane some distance from his previous quest. In that respect, Sunday's (Dec. 1) episode, "My Blue Heaven," did exactly what it was supposed to do. By jumping ahead two years and removing Jane to an island, where he has cut off most of his ties with his former life, it allows for as clean a break with the Red John story as is possible.Of course, the ramifications of his killing Red John still linger. Jane is a fugitive, and of his former CBI colleagues, only Cho is doing something remotely like what he used to by having joined the FBI. Libson is still in law enforcement, but she's the police chief in a... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-mentalist---my-blue-heaven-meet-the-new-boss.html
