'The Mentalist': In the end, a satisfying goodbye to Jane

Procedural, part-time serial, and flawed character study of a flawed hero, The Mentalist resided at an intersection where many early-century trends in pop culture have met, crossed, and even dead-ended. Patrick Jane, an unrepentant con man who became born again crime-fighter following the...   Read More... http://feeds.ew.com/~r/entertainmentweekly/tv/coverage/~3/LwFcRtFOniQ/mentalist-ends-why-ending-worked

(Spoilers, obviously, for the series finale of "The Mentalist" are contained herein.)"The Mentalist" closed out its seven-season run on CBS with a happy ending for Jane and Lisbon -- which is not much of a surprise, given that promos and photos for the series finale showed the two characters getting married. It being "The Mentalist," however, the two leads also had to catch a killer: Joe Keller, the self-described "Lazarus" who had been murdering fake psychics and was tracking Jane (Simon Baker) and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) to the site of their wedding on the land Jane had just bought for them. (And you thought planning your wedding was tough.)RELATED: Robin Tunney's parents are bummed 'The Mentalist' is endingKeller tracks the couple to the ramshackle cabin on the property and sneaks inside -- only to be greeted by a phalanx of FBI agents with guns, including Lisbon in her wedding dress. The Mentalist Series Finale Review: The Perfect Wedding

It was the series finale of The Mentalist and where do I begin? Lets start with a personal note Ive watched The Mentalist from the very beginning and was almost immediately hooked. It had an intriguing story and engaging characters from the start. The Mentalist was also one of the very first shows that I began reviewing here at TV Fanatic so it has a very special place in my heart. Its always sad when one of your favorite shows ends, but I much prefer to, as Jane said to Lisbon in the end, look at the bright side. Thanks to a devoted fan base, CBS gave us this final season to wrap the show up properly with The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 12 and The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 13 did not disappoint.   Read More... http://www.tvfanatic.com/2015/02/the-mentalist-season-7-episode-13-review-white-orchids/

The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 11 Review: Byzantium

As The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 11 begins, its been a week since Vegas funeral and Patrick Jane is no where to be found. Apparently he did exactly what he told Lisbon he was going to dohe left. For the Grand Canyon. He did say he was going to find someplace nice and the Grand Canyon is beautiful but was it really necessary to ignore all of Lisbons phone calls? Even if he didnt want to talk, he could have texted her and said he was fine but he needed some space. Leaving her in the dark was just cruel.   Read More... http://www.tvfanatic.com/2015/02/the-mentalist-season-7-episode-11-review-byzantium/

The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 10 Review: Nothing Gold Can Stay

The shooting of one of their own had far reaching effects on the team on The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 10 . Will it mean the end for Jane and Lisbon? 1. Taking Things to Extremes - The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 9 Patrick Jane takes extreme measures when innocent lives are on the line on The Menatalist Season 7 Episode 9. After last weeks teaser promo, it was clear that someone was going to die in "Nothing Gold Can Stay" and honestly I wish they hadnt let us know. The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 9 Review: Copper Bullet

Loyalty and trust were the key elements in The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 9 as Abbot's future was on the line. However it didn't take much prodding, if any for the rest of the team to risk their careers in order to help him. How determined must Bill Peterson have been to take down Dennis Abbott to have actually gone down to Mexico, dug up a corpse and pulled a bullet from its skull? That's a man with a serious need for revenge.   Read More.... http://www.tvfanatic.com/2015/01/the-mentalist-season-7-episode-9-review-copper-bullet/

The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 8 Review: The Whites of His Eyes

The hunt for a hired assassin leaves Jane and Lisbon at odds on The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 8 . The looming question now becomes: will they work it out? When an assassin takes out a witness and the FBI team guarding him, Agent Spackman calls in Abbott's team to not only guard Lilly, the second witness, but find the killer before he finds her. I had to wonder about Spackman. He specifically called in Abbott and his team. He's worked with them before so why did he sneer at Jane's quirky methods when he's seen them work in the past? Jane quickly determined that the hired gun was a local based on some powdered sugar. Honestly, that entire scene simply made me crave a beignet(which if you've never had the pleasure of one you really should, they're awesome).   Read More... http://www.tvfanatic.com/2015/01/the-mentalist-season-7-episode-8-review-the-whites-of-his-eyes/
