What ever came of The Middleman and his plucky sidekick, Wendy? Fans of ABC Family's quirky single-season series will get the answer to that and more when a proper finale is presented in graphic-novel form this summer, we have learned exclusively. The Middleman: The Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse - not much hyperbole there! - will be penned by executive producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach (the auteur of the Viper Comics Graphic Novels on which the TV series was based) and Hans Beimler, with illustrations by Armando M. Zanker and layouts by Les McClaine. This collector's item will be released in July 2009, to coincide with the San Diego Comic Con. But wait, there's more! Also in July, a DVD set of The Middleman Season 1 (starring Matt Keeslar and Natalie Morales) will hit stores, featuring all 12 of the episodes that aired on ABC Family in summer 2008, plus extensive bonus materials. The Middleman was not really my cup of tea, but as ABC Family has been setting return dates for other summer series - including The Secret Life of The American Teenager and Kyle XY - I imagine that those of you that did enjoy it are wondering what its status is. Currently, the status remains unchanged: unknown. However, in a recent interview with io9, it's sounding like creator Javier Grillo-Marxuach isn't particularly optimistic: "I don't think ABC Family is ready to throw in the towel just yet. They love, and - more importantly - own The Middleman. But I think it's fair to say that they aren't going to order any new episodes in the immediate future. Right now, we are all focused on closing a deal for a DVD set that will please the fans with a lot of bonus material, bring new viewers to the show, and secure the show's legacy and longevity. As was the case with shows like Firefly, and Family Guy, the sales of the DVD will truly be the barometer for the future of The Middleman." Read the full interview: Has The Middleman Been Cancelled?
I don't know who he is, there wasn't much in Google. But at the end of Middleman Ep 12 I read "In loving memory of Neil Levin" And I love The Middleman, so you'll sadly missed Neil Lavin. And oh my god when it said that i thought that The Middleman Actor died, i was so freaked.... after the painting and talking and love... i was so scared. The Middleman! Rules. Till Season Two...
ABC Family has announced that they are trimming their 13 episode order of The Middleman down to 12. Probably not the best of signs for its future, but you never know... Speaking of which, has anybody been keeping up with the show? What do you think? Source: TV Squad
