Rory and Mike are a gay couple who have decided they want to have a baby. With one vital “component” missing, they ask their close friend Kim to be the tummy mummy. Over ten episodes and nine months we follow Kim as she helps the boys prepare to bring a child into the modern world. But with boyfriends, exes and conservative grandparents on the scene plus some fiery pregnancy hormones – will Kim regret her decision? Is she really ready to give up her body, career, love-life, tennis lessons and, of-course, the baby…?! Filmed ‘Peep Show’ style from Kim’s point of view you get to see all of the action through the surrogate’s eyes. To make this look as natural as possible we decided to film every episode as a single continuous take – a real window into the lives of these three complicated characters. To further maintain this sense of reality we also decided to make all of the dialogue improvised around a scripted storyline. We invite you to take a look through the eyes of The Vessel.
