'Mad,' 'Bad' and 'Walking' Into the Headlines: An AMC Timeline

It feels as though AMC's scripted fare has been part of the TV landscape forever, but it's worth noting that Don Draper and 'Mad Men' only arrived on our TV screens four years ago. As Don well knows, hitting the big time can create its own set of problems. As AMC has dealt with the challenges that success brings, it has endured a roller-coaster ride of conflict and controversy, especially in recent months. The Walking Dead Season 2 Gets Premiere Title

The first episode of The Walking Dead  season 2 has been titled. AMC has posted the title of the premiere episode on their website: not surprisingly, it's titled "Miles Behind Us." I say it's unsurprising because it follows the trend set up by the first season. The season one premiere, "Days Gone Bye," took its title from the name of the first trade paperback volume of the comics. Miles Behind Us  is the title of the second volume. I like the titling choice, myself, and I'd be interested to see if the trend continues. Given that season two will cover more ground than the first season, it'd be no surprise to me if a later season two episode is titled "Life Behind Bars," which is -- you guessed it -- the title of the third volume. AMC Launches Digital Studio, ‘Walking Dead’ Web Series

Two weeks after Comcast received the a-okay from the US government to acquire NBC, the cable operator and internet and telephone service provider shutdown the broadcast network’s digital studio. If you thought that action signified a greater movement within the three-letter-network television community to shuffle off its original new media initiatives, AMC has some news that will make you rethink your outlook on the role of traditional TV networks in the online video industry. The home of Mad Men , Breaking Bad , The Walking Dead , and The Killing (we won’t mention Rubicon ) today announced the launch of AMC Digital Studios, "an online destination to incubate and to develop web series from up-and-coming talent to be showcased at AMCTV.com." AMC Comments on 'The Walking Dead' Shakeup

After yesterday's news that 'The Walking Dead' showrunner Frank Darabont had left the hit AMC show and Glen Mazzara would take his place, the network has finally opened up about the shakeup. AMC released a statement Thursday commenting on the news: "'The Walking Dead''s Glen Mazzara, writer and executive producer, is expanding his responsibilities to assume the role of showrunner. AMC is grateful to executive producer, writer and pilot director Frank Darabont whose contributions to the success of 'The Walking Dead' are innumerable. http://www.aoltv.com/2011/07/28/amc-the-walking-dead-shakeup/

'The Walking Dead' showrunner Frank Darabont steps down

Talk about a shocker. The creator/executive producer and director of AMC's hit zombie drama "The Walking Dead" Frank Darabonthas stepped down as showrunner, Deadline reports. Darabont appeared on the show's panel at Comic-Con this past Friday with executive producers Robert Kirkman and Gale Anne Hurd. According to Deadline, Darabont never fully adjusted to the grueling schedule of producing a TV show. It's unclear at this time if Darabont is off the show completely, but he there is a chance he may stay on "The Walking Dead" in some capacity. Darabont wrote and directed the pilot episode.Darabont made headlines last December when he considered assigning scripts to freelancers instead of hiring a writing staff. He ended up hiring a writing staff and made "The Shield's" Glen Mazzara an executive producer. "The Walking Dead' is currently in production on its second season, which is set to premiere on Oct. 16. Shocked by Darabont's decision, Zappers? Sound off in the comments. ... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/07/the-walking-dead-showrunner-frank-darabont-steps-down.html

Comic-Con 2011: 'The Walking Dead' gets premiere date, season 2 trailer

Producer Gale Anne Hurd wasted no time breaking news at Friday's (July 22) "Walking Dead" panel at Comic-Con."Please get out your smart phones," she said. "I want to announce the premiere date for season 2 -- it will be Sunday, Oct. 16 at 9 p.m. ET."A full two weeks earlier than 2010's Halloween night premiere. We consider ourselves lucky to be sitting in Ballroom 20 at all considering the thousands of people who camped out for hours to snag a seat. But, here we are, with 4,249 of our closest friends ravenous for a peek at season 2 and a little chat with the actors, producers and writer Robert Kirkman. To our left sit Rea and Chris, who came all the way from East Sussex, England to get a gander at countryman Andrew Lincoln and (hopefully) see preview footage for season 2, which doesn't start until spring 2012 in the U.K.Next on the agenda, the premiere of... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/07/comic-con-2011-the-walking-dead-gets-premiere-date-season-2-trailer.html

'The Walking Dead' Season 2 First Look: One Dead Traffic Jam (EXCLUSIVE)

As if our nerd sensors weren't already on overload with all the Comic-Con goodness, the good people at AMC sent us over this very tantalizing first look at 'The Walking Dead' Season 2. In the new picture, Dale (Jeffrey DeMunn) and Andrea (Laurie Holden) look a little worried ... and bloody as they're making their way through one very dead traffic jam. Check out a bigger version of the picture and AMC's first footage below. 'The Walking Dead' Season 2 returns to AMC this October. http://www.aoltv.com/2011/07/21/the-walking-dead-season-2-first-look-photo/

Walking Dead Comic-Con poster: Chock full o zombies

Atop an RV with two Georgia sheriff's deputies, guns and a crossbow is apparently the place to be in the event of a zombie attack. At least the stars of AMC's breakout hit, "The Walking Dead," appear calm, cool and collected as they stand just feet above an attack horde of zombies in a new Comic-Con promo poster for the show. On Sunday (July 17), AMC also released a first look clip of the show, which returns to TV in October. The scene shows our main character, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) as he dispatches two zombies with a large-ish (but by no means gargantuan) rock.Comic-conners are apparently anxiously awaiting all things zombie-related at the annual fan fest, which opens in San Diego on Thursday (July 20). "The Walking Dead" panel tops the list of panels most in demand by convention goers using the fan fest's online scheduling system.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/07/walking-dead-comic-con-poster-chock-full-o-zombies.html

'The Walking Dead' Season 2 teaser: Rick Grimes will rock you

AMC offered up the first look at Season 2 of "The Walking Dead" on Sunday night (July 17), and the situation for Rick Grimes has not really improved. It's quiet, it's gruesome, and it's kind of awesome. The 60-second promo that aired during "Breaking Bad's" season premiere shows Rick (Andrew Lincoln) in the woods, unarmed and stalked by a pair of zombies. Unarmed with a gun, that is: It turns out he's pretty deadly with a large rock in his hand too.Like some of the best scenes in Season 1, the teaser contains no dialogue -- just ambient sounds, Rick's labored breathing and some rather squishy rock-against-head noise. The show used silence to great effect last year, and by doing so again here we're drawn right back in."The Walking Dead" returns to AMC in October. What do you think of the teaser?... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/07/the-walking-dead-season-2-teaser-rick-grimes-will-rock-you.html
