Torchwood Reviews & Ratings

The series is set in Cardiff, some time after the Doctor Who (2005) series two finale, setting it in 2007 and later in early 2008 ahead of its actual air date. It follows the Wales branch of a covert agency called the Torchwood Institute which investigate extraterrestrial incidents on Earth and scavenges alien technology for its own use. To paraphrase Torchwood Three's commander-in-chief, Captain Jack Harkness, the organisation is beyond the government, the police, and the United Nations. Their public perception is as merely a 'special ops' group.

So far, up to S1/E12.
Being a spin off from Doctor Who, I really kinda expected more ... more aliens, a bit of time hopping maybe ... instead of spending all that time with screwing scenes, how about a bit more story line that actually includes some story.
And, is it just me, or does Jack Harkness sound like John Ritter ?? (aka Jack Tripper / Three's Company) .... ????

S3/E1-5__Children of Earth: Day 1-5__Interesting note ... Peter Capaldi as John Frobisher ... later to become the Doctor :)

What if the world had to be saved every week, and the only ones who knew were a small team in Wales.

It's always nice to have a show that's successful and based off another successful show. Torchwood and Torchwood: Miracle Day kept the greatness that was Doctor Who and never overdid it.

I did like Doctor Who and as the show ended (again), suddenly there was light at the end of the tunnel and there was Torchwood.
This handsome Captain Jack Harkness, who can not die (thanks to the Doctor), and his team form Torchwood. They set out to save our world over and over again from extraterrestrial or home made threats. It is less "Doctor Whoy" but it is almost there. If you mis DW, replenisch yourself with Torchwood - until, perhaps, the Doctor comes again!

The first season is so over the top in establishing itself as an 'adult' Doctor Who but it settles down and finds a good stride. Season 2 was excellent but I think it really peaks with the third season mini-series. Children of Earth was one of the most compelling and heartbreaking television I've ever seen.

LOVE this show and it makes me smile. It is a good continuation into the adult themes fo the older audience for Doctor Who.
