True Blood Creator Talks Alcide, Season Three Romances - Featured

True Blood has made a number of casting moves over the last few weeks. And that's almost an understatement. Denis O'Hare, Marshall Allman, Theo Alexander, Grant Bowler, Kevin Alejandro and Lindsay Pulsipher will also play key roles on season three. But creator Alan Ball - who signed a new contract this week that ensures at least four full season of the show - isn't shy about citing the most important casting addition: Joe Manganiello as Alcide. The new character (a werewolf) plays an integral part in the book series on which True Blood is based. How did Ball know he found the right actor for the role? We were looking for a guy who was big, sexy, decent and heroic, with some darkness, he told Entertainment Weekly. And [Manganiello] showed us all of that in the audition. As for Alcide's relationship with Sookie (semi-spoiler alert!), the werefold isn't introduced as a potential suitor for Bill's gal. As in the book, he's helping her find Bill; and he has a business reason for owing Eric a favor," Ball said. He's there with her during a very painful time in her life - and his life, actually. And they're thrown into some pretty intense situations together. And hello, he's hot! And hello, so is she. Two hot people in some intense situations and, for whatever reasons, their significant others are not there... they're human. Well, not exactly. But we get his point - and can't wait to see how it all plays out. Source Here

True Blood: Joe Manganiello Weighs in on Werewolf Alcide

Not a lot of True Blood fans were initially thrilled with the idea of Joe Manganiello, who appeared as Brooke's alcoholic ex, Owen, on One Tree Hill, playing the role of werewolf Alcide--- one of the most significant new characters on the third season of the HBO vampire series. But it looks like he'll be easy on the eyes after all, especially since "fans of the book will be pleased" with Manganiello's character, at least initially. Aside from hinting how TV Alcide is similar to Alcide in the books, Manganiello also describes his character's background, as well as his first encounter with Sookie. "He's really big. He's giant," Manganiello told Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello. "When Sookie first meets him, she opens the door and looks up, and then has to look up some more. So there's this giant presence standing in the doorway with dark hair and dark features. He's strong and protective. He comes from a construction background; his father is in the construction business. He's heroic and romantic. I don't think it's a secret that he has a broken heart when he shows up. He had a really rough go of this relationship with Debbie Pelt, so there's a lot of friction there. Debbie's doing a lot of things to get back at Alcide." And now that Alcide is being groomed to be one of Sookie's love interests on True Blood's third season, Manganiello reveals what he can offer that Bill and Eric can't: Warm flesh and blood! "That's the neat thing about my character: Although he's not entirely human, he is flesh and blood. He has a lifespan. In the books he hugs Sookie and she feels his skin and it's just radiating heat. So I think the fact that he has some kind of sunburnt heat-radiating skin is just completely different. It's [similar to when] she met Bill and what a relief it was for her to not be able to hear his thoughts," he explained. Source here

True Blood: Lafayette's Boyfriend Found - Featured

One more name is tossed into the " True Blood " bowl as one of the new characters in Season 3. The casting directors have been looking for an actor to play a hot gay Latino named Jesus Velasquez and they have apparently found a match in Kevin Alejandro. The 33-year-old actor will be a major character in the new season because Jesus is slated to be Lafayette's new love interest. Jesus is to take care of Ruby Jean Reynolds aka Lafayette's mother, who is played by award-winning actress Alfre Woodward, and becomes entangled in a relationship with him. No clue yet when he would start popping up on the show but THR said he would appear in almost every episode of the season. Alejandro is one of the regulars on "Southland". The cop drama was canceled by NBC but had been picked up by TNT for a re-rerun of season 1 starting January 12. The rating will then determine whether TNT will extend it beyond the 6 episodes of season 2 which have been in production. It is confirmed that Alejandro would be able to juggle between the two even though "Southland" gets the pick-up. "True Blood" had begun the third season production before Christmas with the premiere target of June. News is still awaiting for the casting of bikers Louie, Gus and Jimmy, Alcide's girlfriend Debbie Pelt, NYU grads for Jason's threesome partners, elderly woman named Olivia and African American couple Betty and Marvin. True Blood Scoop: Will Alcide Win Sookie's Heart? - Featured

From EW: Alcide is about to put a major kink in True Blood 's polarizing Eric/Sookie/Bill triangle. At least that's the word from the werewolf's portrayer, Joe Manganiello, who makes a strong case for an Alcide/Sookie pairing in Part 2 of our exclusive Q&A. ( You can read Part 1 here ) The 33-year-old actor also weighs in on the length of his commitment to the show and why he isn't afraid of those crazy Team Bill and Team Eric fans. Will your Alcide be different from the Alcide in the books? JOE MANGANIELLO: Alan Ball and I had a conversation about that at one of my auditions. I think it's up in the air. I know that, at least initially, fans of the book will be pleased with my character. What's your take on Alcide? MANGANIELLO: He's really big. He's giant. When Sookie first meets him, she opens the door and looks up, and then has to look up some more. Debbie's doing a lot of things to get back at Alcide. How long are you committed to the show for? MANGANIELLO: Right now we've just talked about this season. What can Alcide offer Sookie that Bill and Eric can't? MANGANIELLO: Warm flesh and blood. That's the neat thing about my character: Although he's not entirely human, he is flesh and blood. He has a lifespan. In the books he hugs Sookie and she feels his skin and it's just radiating heat. So I think the fact that he has some kind of sunburnt heat-radiating skin is just completely different. It's [similar to when] she met Bill and what a relief it was for her to not be able to hear his thoughts. Are you ready to be thrust into the Eric/Sookie/Bill fan frenzy? MANGANIELLO: For me it's fun. I could see how if I was a 100-pound Hollywood actress it would probably be pretty scary, but 'm a big guy, so people don't necessarily scare me in that way. With that said, I've had to go to the police a couple of times for stalkers. Really? MANGANIELLO: They were really big - I don't know how I want to describe it but they were guys. I've had two guy stalkers that I've had to go to the cops about. But other than that I think it's a blast. It's so fun to get caught up in that. It's so fun to have fans care that much. It's that whole Comic-Con, fanboy crowd. I love that. I started my career in Spider-Man, so I'm completely familiar with them and I love that kind of stuff. And you hear about love triangles all of the time, it's going to be interesting to see how the love square works out. Source

It's about time Lafayette settled down. The sassy short-order cook on True Blood, who has exchanged sexual favors for V in the past, will find a man that appreciates him for his personality (and smokin body, of course) on season three of the HBO hit. True Blood creator Alan Ball - who said this summer viewers would see a more vulnerable Lafayette - is searching for a sexy Latino actor in his 30s to fill the role. Source here

True Blood: Alexander Skarsgard Weighs in on the Rumored Eric-Sookie Hook-Up

The second season of True Blood has repeatedly toyed with the idea of a Sookie-Eric hook-up, whether it's just in Sookie's dreams or in palpable hints insinuated by Eric himself. This very premise has seemingly divided fans of the HBO vampire series--- with some rooting for Bill and Sookie, while others are hoping for a Sookie-Eric pairing. To shed light on the subject, Alexander Skarsgard, who plays vampire Eric, spoke to Entertainment Weekly and revealed what's bound to happen on True Blood. 'Warning: Spoilers ahead!!!
