TV ratings: 'Touch' series finale rises some, while 'Vegas' series finale falls

Fast National ratings for Friday, May 10, 2013Though it had already been given the ax by FOX, Kiefer Sutherland's "Touch" managed to see a slight uptick in ratings for its Season 2 (and series) finale. The show saw 2.5 million total viewers, up slightly from last week's 2.2. While the minor rise won't do the show any favors at this point, it could help Sutherland's cause with the strange new rumor that FOX is seeking to revive "24" as a limited-run series.Over at CBS, freshman drama "Vegas" also closed up shop for good. Ending its first and only season, the Dennis Quaid-led series saw a slight decline in total viewers with 7.1 million, compared to last week's 7.26. The show's performance also reinforces just how strong CBS is as a network, compared to its competition. A show with the same numbers on NBC would likely run for seven years.CBS, per usual, won the evening with... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/05/tv-ratings-touch-series-finale-rises-some-while-vegas-series-finale-falls.html

'CSI: NY,' 'Vegas,' 'Rules of Engagement' and 'Golden Boy' canceled at CBS

The few days before the network upfronts tend to be brutal for shows awaiting word on their futures, and this year is no different.NBC issued a flood of cancellations earlier in the week, and CBS joined the fray on Friday (May 10), dropping the ax on the only four scripted shows on which it had yet to make a call: veterans "CSI: NY" and "Rules of Engagement" and rookie dramas "Golden Boy" and "Vegas."None of those is terribly surprising. "CSI: NY," which ended its ninth season in February, was widely expected to be done. Most of the "Rules of Engagement" cast sought other work this pilot season. "Vegas" started well but was on a downward curve for most of the season, and "Golden Boy" never really caught on in the ratings.PICS 2012-13 canceled showsThe cutting of "Golden Boy" and "Vegas" means CBS will bring only one of its first-year shows, "Elementary," back for a second... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/05/csi-ny-vegas-rules-of-engagement-and-golden-boy-canceled-at-cbs.html

'Vegas' bumped to Saturday in bad sign for CBS drama

Struggling first year drama "Vegas" has been bumped to Saturday this week to make room for a CBS News special on the Boston Marathon bombing suspects. It's not unusual for breaking news to impact a network's regularly scheduled programming, but it's telling that CBS chose to bump tonight's 9 p.m. "Vegas" -- the only series with a fresh episode scheduled to air on the network -- instead of the repeat "Undercover Boss" or "Hawaii Five-0" episodes airing at 8 and 10 p.m. ET, respectively.Rather than holding the new episode for a later date, CBS is hastily dumping it on Saturday (April 20) night at 8 p.m. That's not a good sign at all for one of the few CBS series still awaiting word on a renewal for next season. Given the show's declining ratings, especially in its shift to Friday nights, "Vegas" is considered a major long-shot to make it to Season 2 and this move... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/04/vegas-bumped-to-saturday-in-bad-sign-for-cbs-drama.html

'Vegas': Michael Chiklis has 'a blast' both acting and directing

Michael Chiklis enjoys calling the shots. He does that to a certain degree as a star and co-executive producer of the CBS drama series "Vegas," which has just moved to Fridays. However, he does it much more with in this week's (April 12) episode, since he also directed it."It was a blast," Chiklis tells Zap2it. "This is a big show, and the production value is so high-end, I had a great time getting behind the camera on it."When I started the series, I knew I was going to want to direct, so we talked about it right from the outset. It was agreed that I would direct at least one episode every season, and this year, I agreed to wait until the back nine. We wanted to get the show up and running and established first, and it worked out perfectly."Though Chiklis oversaw all the other actors in the newest "Vegas" tale, he didn't take a... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/04/vegas-michael-chiklis-has-a-blast-both-acting-and-directing.html
