'Up All Night' Season 2: Ava loses her show and more big changes

The first season of "Up All Night" often felt like it was two separate shows -- one about a couple raising their first child, and one about the behind-the-scenes shenanigans at a TV talk show. They were linked, of course, since Reagan (Christina Applegate) was both the new mom and the producer of Ava's (Maya Rudolph) talk show. In Season 2, though, Ava's show gets canceled."I think we wanted to expand Ava's roster of experiences, and we just felt sort of her world being rocked and the rug being pulled out from under her just enabled us to open up her world," creator Emily Spivey told reporters during a set visit this week. "... She's going to have more struggles, whether it be finding what her new creative outlet is, finding a man."The end of Ava's show means Reagan is out of a job too, so she'll be staying home with little Amy, while Chris (Will... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/08/up-all-night-season-2-ava-loses-her-show-and-more-big-changes.html

Up All Night Enlists Sean Hayes

Up All Night will return in the fall with a retooled narrative, shifting the show to be more about Christina Applegate and Will Arnett's characters' home life and less about Applegate's work life and Maya Rudolph's not-Oprah character Ava . At least that's what showrunners said at the series' TCA panel yesterday. But Ava won't be back-burnered into oblivion: Sean Hayes will be joining the show for a multi-episode arc as her "former accompanist." (Ava's a one-time R&B star.) While Hayes and Rudolph can no doubt feed off each other's antic energy, the show doesn't actually need that — Night 's whole first season suffered from the weird split tone of the series. Just give Rudolph her own show, and let Night be about its family unit. Problem solved! http://www.vulture.com/2012/08/up-all-night-sean-hayes.html

Up All Night Season 2 Scoop: Luka Jones Cast As...

The family, and cast, of Up All Night will grow a tad larger on Season 2. As first reported by Entertainment Weekly , Luka Jones - best known for his role on the short-lived Best Friends Forever - has been added to the NBC sitcom as a series regular. He will play Scott, Reagan's younger brother and a contractor with both a successful career and a very laid back attitude. Look for the character to be a divorcee with a five-year old son. Up All Night returns with new episodes on Thursday, September 20. Get a look at the full NBC fall schedule now. http://www.tvfanatic.com/2012/07/up-all-night-season-2-scoop-luka-jones-cast-as/

'Up All Night' cast grows: Who should play Christina Applegate's brother?

NBC is growing its "Up All Night" cast for Season 2. Producers are looking for a new series regular to join the show full-time as Sam, the younger brother of Christina Applegate's character, Reagan.Sam is a newly divorced dad to a five-year-old son -- and let's just say that his parenting style doesn't exactly jive with Reagan's. When he starts spending more time with Reagan, Chris (Will Arnett), and Amy, Reagan can't help but worry that his laid-back attitude -- yay, junk food! -- will be a bad influence on Amy.A successful contractor, Sam is something of an artist when it comes to his craftmanship -- but unfortunately, he is much better at using tools than he is at using his brain. Executive producer Emily Spivey is looking to cast a 30- to 33-year-old "man's man" to play the role. Who do you think they should cast?... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/06/up-all-night-cast-grows-who-should-play-christina-applegates-brother.html
