What We're Watching

In this season of the ongoing series The Crown, Charles and Diana's marriage is faltering and the Queen is under pressure from all sides, not just from her kingdom but also within the royal family.

While not nearly as cutthroat or incestuous as the other show about thrones (plus, many fewer dragons), season five of The Crown still has a slow-burning intensity and some underhanded political machinations worth watching.

While this series constantly tries to create a weird barrier between the crisis on the ship, and the 4th wall of the audience… It’s really only successful in character development.

Ex. Captain is revealed to be an actor, so are all the bridge personnel; with the ship being controlled by a group of engineers below the bridge… This creates a layered series of dynamics, where non-standard events can occur at many different levels.

At times, it feels like improv: like the actors are told the actions of the last scene, and just to respond as their characters with little to no instruction. That said, the show only works because the actors have built such interestingly responsive characters.

I can’t recommend this show for someone with a deep backlog, but if your running light on stuff to watch, and liked “The office”, “House”, or “Gilligan’s Island”; your going to find something to keep you entertained.

Hard to review this, I am not a Starwars follower but have watched the Series the last twelve months, which I have enjoyed.
The cinematography is great in all of these shows. Keep them coming.

To be honest, nothing feels like 5 stars these days, nothing sci-fi i mean. it if was more like firefly, id give it 5 stars. But the show is thrilling, a lot of chases and action filled.
