5 Reasons We Love Watching: The Blacklist

We have to admit to being skeptical of The Blacklist at its debut. Our editor may have even said "The Blacklist is what you get when a show gets focus-grouped into oblivion." We were wrong. Along the way, it turned into a compelling (if occasionally creepy-and-not-in-a-good-way) crime drama that also put an interesting twist on the procedural formula. James Spader's Raymond "Red" Reddington is a slippery eel for the ages, and his maybe-daughter Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) is starting to come into her own in terms of ass-kicking. Still not convinced? Here are five reasons you can't miss The Blacklist, Mondays at 10:00 on NBC.

5. OK, he may have been a terrorist, and he may not have been, but one thing Red definitely is is a badass:

4. And Elizabeth Keen? She's seen enough in her short career to start being a badass herself:

3. Red's also the funniest psychopath since Hannibal Lecter:

2. But he's also deadly serious when it counts:

1. OK, this is basically the end of every episode of the show, and yet, we're OK with maybe not ever finding out the truth of who Red and Elizabeth really are:

?? The only thing no.2 would spoil is that there's something iffy about Tom Keen... which is made patently clear right from ep.1.

If so, then that's ALSO something we've known since the very beginning.

Gosh, I love this show! I came across it by accident, figured why they heck not, sounds okay and started watching. Boy, I was hooked from episode one! Good thing when I started watching, it was already well into the 4th season so I get to binge watch the entire 4 seasons out there. I did just that with the first season. A whole weekend of Blacklist. And I really, really like Raymond "Red" Reddington. No. 3 is my favorite. He is slippery as an eel, cool as a cucumber - and sometimes funny as hell. He is, clearly, a complete psychopath with no conscience (at least not a visible one, even though sometimes, it seems like there is one hiding very, very deep somewhere inside of him). But he has his moments. This show is definitely hardcore. But totally awesome!
