The CW's 10 Best Shows, Ranked

September 2016 marks the 10-year anniversary of The CW, which has become arguably broadcast television's most daring network. From the brilliant exuberance of The Flash to the witty romance of Jane the Virgin, the current CW lineup features diversity, depth, and edge. But the network has aired top-notch shows since its earliest days as the slightly awkward child of UPN and The WB. So we've come up with a list of the 10 best, from a pool of all hourlong series (including those that originated on the parent networks but spent at least a season on The CW). It was a tough task involving very difficult choices. So breathe deeply and click on.

I like the 100, but it is ranked way too high along with Jane The Virgin. 90210 should be on the list instead of crazy ex-girlfriend and Gossip Girl should be much higher

Well I pretty much couldn't disagree more, but to be fair, I doubt it was just you TJ who picked these shows, as the Sidereel team consists of both Men and Women of varying ages and interests, and so I absolutely understand how your list contains shows every genre, appealing to every type of audience. This should also explain why my variant of the list is so different, as I only care about shows suited to my own person taste.

So My list is as follows, in no order whatsoever;

Izombie, Arrow, The Flash, Smallville, Nikita, Cult, Beauty & the Beast, The Tomorrow People, The Vampire Diaries, The 100.

Runner ups: The Originals, The Secret Circle, Legends of Tomorrow, Reign, Reaper.

Pretty shocked Nikita wasn't on your list.

I don't necessarily disagree with this list, but I agree with Jason basically. 90210 should be here instead of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Gossip Girl should be way higher. Also sorta surprised Supernatural wasn't #1, even though I'm not a fan.

I personally think Reign should be on this list.

I love Veronica Mars. I could do with 90210 or GG being higher but more importantly America's Next Top Model. It might have started on UPN but it was a CW flagship for ages.

I would've loved to have seen The Carrie Diaries, Hart of Dixie, or Aliens in America. Also, The Game had its strongest seasons on The CW (whereas something like Girlfriends peaked on another network) and I think Reign put together a pretty good season three after season two disappointed.

Smallville is my number 1 pick, by far.

And you absolutely CANNOT have Flash on here without Arrow, that's just beyond asinine. Flash has had two seasons so far with both ranging between a 9 and 10, and what were the first two seasons of Arrow? a 9 and a 10. End of.

Reaper and Nikita both at least deserved honorable mentions, and FYI: Secret Circle, 90210 and especially One Tree Hill were all VASTLY better teen dramas than off the rails, nonsensical Gossip Girl ever was.

Only thing I'm wondering is where is One Tree Hill ?
Also, thank you for recognizing The 100 's power! (even with the controversial season 3)

I couldn't agree more about Veronica Mars. That show can never be praised enough, so glad to see it as number one. Quite surprised iZombie didn't make the list as I think it really is the epitome of the new era of the CW.

Gossip Girl should be a lot higher in my personal opinion. Crazy ex girlfriend shouldnt even be on the list, 90210 deserves that slot and also One tree hill is a real long standing classic.

The Originals should be in the Top 5. It has great story telling and even better (surprisingly realistic... for a show about supernaturals) character development. It needs more publicity. People think that it is just a Vampire Diaries spin off, but it is super strong as its own series and even better than the Vampire Diaries was (even in its earlier seasons). The story-arcs deal with less teen centered drama. Anyways if you are looking for an amazing and underrated CW show, the Originals should be next on your watchlist.
