'Game of Thrones' producers confirm final season only 6 episodes

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will indeed only be six episodes long, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss said Sunday.

"It’s only going to be six episodes for the final season," Benioff said during a panel at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas.

HBO has yet to confirm the episode count for season eight, but with season 7 wrapped and the showrunners preparing the final run, they seem certain of the number, and noted they’ve already divvied up who gets to write which episode.

awww man, whatever happens, I REALLY hope they dont kill off the mother of dragons, daenerys (or however you spell it), I love her character and story, all she wants is to free people of their chains and live in a world where everyone is equal and there's no masters or slaves.. on top of claiming back her birthright. With this show's track record though I'm preparing myself for it.. at that moment I will stop watching the show.

I could see the mother of Dragons destroying the Iron throne, and making a republic or something. The Starks would get the north, the Imp would get Castle Rock, and they can all hold hands and rule together.

well there's also an interesting theory floating about that.. Bran is still in his coma and he's activated his powers of foresight into the future instead of the past, like what his powers have done at the tree. Thus in the end.. they all die and then Bran wakes up with it all being a dream but he can then prepare all of the world for the fight against the 'White Walkers' and win. THIS is a pretty interesting theory as they seems to have kept Bran in the background, are they tryign to keep him out of the picture so he will return and later help? My thought on that though is he will become the new tree, replacing the old man that's in it.

These six episodes are going to be a total free for all, I cannot wait! It is the only show that I can say almost all of my friends watch.
