A newspaper reporter is attacked over the phone and Conan rushes to the apartment to find the apartment on fire and the award-winning photographer, Ry?ichi Yanase, snapping pictures. Using evidence from the photos, Conan takes his deduction to the airwaves when Kogoro appears on a television show hosted by Ry?ichi. Conan presents two photos to warrant Ry?ichi's arrest with the help of Professor Agasa and Inspector Megure: a photo of Ry?ichi's gold watch at the scene of the crime and a traffic violation photo with Ry?ichi with the watch on.
