Code Black Season 3 Episode 12 Review: As Night Comes and I'm Breathing

All goodthings must come to an end. But first, you have to set up the exit strategy. Code Black Season 3 Episode 12 did an admirable job of that. Maybe a bit too admirable. A missing teenager, a doctor on a psych hold, a floundering surgical resident, an oedipal confrontation...that's a lot to wrap up in a mere forty-five minutes.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/07/code-black-season-3-episode-12-review-as-night-comes-and-im-brea/

Code Black Season 3 Episode 11 Review: One of Our Own

Families are what you make of them. They're not always what you expect -- Code Black Season 3 Episode 11 shows us that repeatedly. Brother's aren't brothers because of DNA, but because of common bonds and shared values. Family is obviously central to the concept of Code Black. This isn't news. Hell, two of the characters refer to themselves as Mama and Daddy.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/07/code-black-season-3-episode-11-review-one-of-our-own/

Code Black Season 3 Episode 10 Review: Change of Heart

White lies can help people, but they can also snowball and cause real damage. The doctors struggled with telling the truth on Code Black Season 3 Episode 10 . They weren't trying to sell alternate facts, thank god, just struggling to protect those under their care. But where do you draw that line? Is it more ethical to betray a confidence than tell a white lie? In the aftermath of a fight with his father, Ethan's struggle with these questions has everybody weighing in.  ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/06/code-black-season-3-episode-10-review-change-of-heart/

Code Black Season 3 Episode 9 Review: Only Human

RIP Max. You'll be missed by all of us. The teenager's death on Code Black Season 3 Episode 9 was far from surprising, but that didn't make it any less tragic. Ariel has some hard lessons in front of her. And she's not the only one. Ethan found out that not all questions have easy answers and made things worse with his father in the process. Some people just aren't ready to hear the truth.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/06/code-black-season-3-episode-9-review-only-human/

Code Black Season 3 Episode 8 Review: Home Stays Home

Hallelujah! I know I'm not the only one rejoicing that Guthrie finally had a come-to-Jesus talk with Angus. Our favorite surgical resident wasn't the only doc to get a reality check on Code Black Season 3 Episode 8 though. The ladies were handing out lots of great advice as the menfolk battled their personal demons.  ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/06/code-black-season-3-episode-8-review-home-stays-home/

Code Black Season 3 Episode 7 Review: Step Up

Noah's finally got his groove back, and all it took was one hardass army colonel. Niceness only gets you so far, as some of the docs learned on Code Black Season 3 Episode 7 . But that advice can be taken too far, as we saw with Angus, who is jeopardizing his personal relationships for the sake of the job. I was so happy to see Elliot gaining some confidence back, but I could have done without the constant repetition of "Stand your ground." Either the writers are completely unaware of how loaded a phrase that is or they just don't care. I'm not sure which is worse.  ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/06/code-black-season-3-episode-7-review-step-up/

Code Black Season 3 Episode 5 Review: Cabin Pressure

It's always important to look for the silver lining. I'm sure Jesse or Guthrie would put it more eloquently, but that doesn't make it any less true. After the devastating news about cancellation, we loyal viewers were rewarded with a double serving of medical drama goodness. The only downside to getting Code Black Season 3 Episode 5 and Code Black Season 3 Episode 6 at once? We're that much closer to the end.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/05/code-black-season-3-episode-5-review-cabin-pressure/

Code Black Season 3 Episode 4 Review: The Same as Air

Okay, who has a good kimchi recipe that they're willing to share? Thinking about Aunt Jae's truck is making me hungry. Rox'saunt may be my favorite new character, but she wasn't the only good thing going on Code Black Season 3 Episode 4 . While Ethan and Leanne helped a family break free from a tyrant, Mario learned a valuable lesson and became a better doctor for it, and Angus had to figure out how navigate a sticky situation.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/05/code-black-season-3-episode-4-review-the-same-as-air/

Code Black Season 3 Episode 3 Review: La Familia

Does anybody have any spare tissues left? Code Black Season 3 Episode 3 took us back into the emotional heart of Angel's with the death of Jesse's brother, Jose. How is that the death a character we've never even heard of before could leave us so shaken? The answer's simple. Luis Guzman. Mama's always been a favorite of mine (and anyone with a pulse), but this case took the character to a whole new level. Outside of his heart attack, Jesse has always been placed in the role of supporter and confident. He's the one that holds up Leanne; hell, he's the one that holds up the whole ER.   ...Read More....   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/05/code-black-season-3-episode-3-review-la-familia/

Code Black Season 3 Episode 2 Review: Better Angels

Well, that was different. A patient's tumor took us all to a musical review on Code Black Season 3 Episode 2 . This isn't the first time that the showrunners have shown their theater geek sides, but I think it was my favorite. The brightly colored song and dance routines worked precisely because they were hallucinations. It's not a new approach (looking at you, Grey'sAnatomy ), but it is an effective one.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/05/code-black-season-3-episode-2-review-better-angels/
