Tonight's TV Hot List: Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 - Featured

* Dark Blue (10/9c TNT ) Executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer's gritty cop series about a deep undercover unit continues its freshman season. In this episode, team leader Carter Shaw - he of the street-smart focus, hard-bitten worldview and obligatory facial stubble - lurks deep in the shadows, consulting his dark underworld acquaintances to take down a crooked yet decorated cop. But this assignment to crush a fellow police officer tests Ty's moral code - particularly after his wife floors him with big news. Michael Biehn, who played Kyle Reese in 1984's The Terminator, guest stars. * America's Got Talent (9/8c NBC) The ratings-grabbing summer talent contest begins morphing its way to the next phase - the semifinals, which kick off next Tuesday. But first we have tonight's results show. Last night the final 10 acts from the Top 40 took the stage, and with nerves fraying they now await their entertainment fate. Five acts are slated to be eliminated while five winners jubilantly advance to the Top 20 and the semifinals, their hopes for the $1 million prize still alive and well. * Crash Course (9:02/8:02c ABC) ABC makes a dent (literally) in the reality genre with this new revved-up vehicle, in which five two-member teams of significant others compete in extreme driving-course challenges, such as "car bowling," reverse drag racing (complete with a towed boat) and parallel parking (but while driving a lumbering behemoth, like a tank or a bus). The fast-and-furious entrants gearing up for competition in the premiere include fashion-model single moms, a husband-and-wife team, siblings from Michigan and competitive best buds. Orlando Jones and Dan Cortese are the hosts. * Great Performances (8/7c PBS) The great Cab Calloway once said that "jazz was not only built in the minds of the great ones, but on the backs of the ordinary ones." Featuring rare archival footage from both sides of the Atlantic, this look back at the fertile jazz age that bloomed in Paris between World War I and World War II, a time when many black war veterans deigned to stay in Europe rather than return to the segregated U.S., highlights many of the scene's important players, heralded and long-forgotten alike. * Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Cincinnati Bengals (10/9c HBO ) It's not all hard knocks at the Bengals' preseason facility in Georgetown, Ky. The team's preparations for its second exhibition game with the Patriots are interspersed with a training camp visit by Muhammad Ali, and the traditional camp "talent" show put on by Bengal rookies.
