Review of Game of Thrones

Sundays, 9:00 PM ET on HBO

60 minutes

Seven noble families fight for control of the mythical land of Westeros. Friction between the houses leads to full-scale war. All while a very ancient evil awakens in the farthest north. Amidst the war, a neglected military order of misfits, the Night's Watch, is all that stands between the realms of men and icy horrors beyond.

All your friends who watch this want you to watch it. There is a reason, it is pretty good. Even when you have read the books i believe the adaptation is not lacking much. Sure Greyjoy could be developed more etc.. etc.. but anyone who reads always has the movie that plays in their own head and frankly there would be some dull or very long episodes if one had to adapt it all.

It is a touch hard getting into the show when you begin to realize everyone has like 6 different names but if you allow yourself to just be immersed it wont matter much because that characters name who you cant recall will be dead soon.

HAHA, don't worry, they "will be dead soon!" Question: Would you recommend my reading GOT now that I've seen it 2x (I assume I'll watch the last season twice as well). I love to read but feel like maybe I should read history or historical fiction if I'm going to spend that much time on anything.

Just two years to answer... I don't recommend it. You might as well live with the story invented for you the differences wont be that much and he is never going to actually finish writing it anyway.

I do recommend " Name of the Wind " .. mind you in the first two pages and very specifically the first few paragraphs you will think " wow this is ..terrible.. but it really does tell a great story and builds a great world. "

Hey, if you knew me, you'd know it's a miracle that I'm answering this in just two days rather than 2 years. Not your fault - I have issues. lol! Thanks for that advice! And for the bonus of a replacement recommendation! Seriously, don't worry about the 2 years. I'm impressed and grateful that you even answered; most people don't after that long. I think it speaks well of your character. I guess I'm making a big deal about it because I've been berated more than once on other threads/sites/blogs about being slow to the convo. People seem to really be annoyed or certainly not impressed if you post anything after a few days has passed! hehe ....It just occurred to me - maybe proof of multiple timelines is here on Sidereel! We might win a Nobel Prize for this, Tim!

Peace via TV and book review. If only the rest of the world could follow such an example.
