Review of Humans

60 minutes

Humans is set in a world where the new must-have gadget is a 'Synth' -- an eerily lifelike robotic servant. It stars Katherine Parkinson and Tom Goodman-Hill as a couple who purchase a Synth (played by Gemma Chan) but quickly come to regret their decision.

I have watched this show for two episodes and I have to say I rather like it, much to my own surprise. I am a huge fan of the swedish original, so I was not too thrilled when I heard that there was going to be an English Version of this Show. In my opinion, the original Show "Äkte Människor" was perfect and the spin-off unneeded, and this Show proves me right so far. Many conflicts that made the original so breathtaking are missing in the new Show and are already solved during the frist two episodes by stupid rules the robots have to obey. Also, although the actors seem fine, they miss the charme their Swedish colleagues delivered.
All in all, the Show is good and entertaining to watch. But if you have to choose one, take the original, "Äktä Människor", or "Real Humans" which exists in a dubbed Version for English.
