On 142nd Street in New York City stands an obelisk that honors the soldiers of the 369th Infantry Regiment - better known as the Harlem Hellfighters. This African-American combat unit fought valiantly in combat overseas during World War I, yet their greatest battles were waged by fellow Americans. Jockeys have been racing horses at Southern California's Santa Anita Park track for over a century. Though many may claim to be "dying" to win, so far just one has actually done so...and then lived to tell the tale. And the legendary Pantheon in Paris houses a bust of a 19th century Frenchman whose invention brought literacy to the blind. The innovation was created with the very instrument that took away his sight.
