Through Lauren, Mac gets an offer to represent a drug company. It’s good money but Smudge is miffed that Mac hasn’t consulted him. He feels their partnership is not equal, that Mac doesn’t take him seriously – and he’s never been asked to Quiz Night. Lauren wants to take an extended trip to Europe and suggests Mac come with her. He is worried how this will impact on Jo and the kids. But then a health scare makes him reassess his priorities and he decides he will go. Jo takes it surprisingly well; she’s exhausted with the new baby and wishes him well. They reminisce about their own OE. Smudge arrives at the Beagle with his own team – Friends of Dorothy – and they win the night. He even suggests winding up Illuminator. But when he learns of Mac’s prostate fears, all is forgiven. Meanwhile, Jules is not having a great time. He’s DIC’d on his way home from the studio, he misses out on a movie and is down on Shay for demanding too much of his time. He is very attentive to Catherine who can feel something is amiss. She continues to train for the half marathon with Cory and Jules is jealous. She thinks this is ridiculous. But when she hears Shay’s new song and sees Jules reaction, she suspects he had an affair with her. Jules denies this, but admits he did have feelings for Shay and she rejected him. Catherine is upset and sad but believes she can’t just walk out on the relationship; they have to work at it. She is thrown to hear of Mac’s planned trip with Lauren but offers to lend him a book on Paris. Mac realises that he would much rather be travelling with Catherine and he tells Lauren that he doesn’t think they have a future. Lauren is not pleased.
